Fake BK6 on the exchange

I gots me some BK6, and I do speak a little Cantonese, not Mandarin, but hell, they make Rosetta Stone, so I can learn. I do speak Drunkenese pretty well, I been studying that language for almost 2 decades.:D

Sorry for the ripoff, E, I can only imagine how it must feel. You want I should go drag 'em outside, kick the shit outta 'em for ya?

Hey Moose....

Gotta get a location first, seriously The new Camillus under Acme is probably gonna be at least as mad and Acme United has a LOT invested in the name and I suspect deep pockets as well......Gonna be some happy lawyers me betch'um .............The saddest thing is that they DO NOT NEED to steal intellectual property.....They can make deals and build decent product without shafting designers.....

All Best.....

I had a thread about looking for a BK6 and that kind of matches the description Bladite I think it was told me to watch out for. I'll see if I can find it to be sure. I'd hate for it to be real and everyone say it's fake or to be fake and everyone believe it's real. We need facts. Hmm

i have a section in the FAQ about this very thing, listed under the BK6 heading... OB was kind enough to repost that above as well.

These very fakes were listed on ePray in TWO colors for a short time around June 2010, then canceled for some reason ;) Ethan and KaBar were made aware of them.

BK6 Becker Blade Database and updated fake informations...

I think I've dealt with Venice Will in the past with no complaints. That's just a seriously curious example of a Patrol Machete. In all my eBay watching for Camillus examples, I've never seen one like it. In some ways, that fact almost makes me think it might be real. Knock-offs would probably be more common on the 'bay.

Venice Will is a fairly stand up guy, and has to my knoweldge never screwed anyone over. I've sold (and bought?) from him in the past. Would again. Good reputation.

It in no way reflects on the seller unless he was made aware of the forgery. Yep, that is a Chinese copy of the BK6. Ethan has never, I repeat, never put his face on a Becker box. Also, I'm pretty sure, but there was never a stainless BK6 made. Bladite will catch me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure. Its a fake Becker. Moose

I'm sure Will is annoyed as anyone (or more so) about having aquired a fake. Now he has to deal with it. Course, being sold as a "curiosity" wouldn't be a bad thing if listed as such (now that he knows), but it's not the real-deal. Whoever sold it to him should probably be informed as well.

Lots of other little things bothered me too. All the Camillus boxes were green, even the ones that sold at PX's (the SG models). On the back of that sheath, the name looks to be CamiLLus with two capital L's. Weird. And the handle materials/screws don't match anything I've seen on a Becker.

ETA: Bladite, you might grab those pics and put a thread about fake Beckers into the blade database. Might help others on down the road. That's the first I've seen, but I wonder if there are others. If the pics are gone before you get to them, I've got 'em.

I've updated the FAQ with all the little not so subtle fake details. I've copied the pictures and asked Will's permission to rehost them, so i can officially put the pictures (very nice ones), into the FAQ so others can see what fakes look like. I didn't manage to copy the pictures from the Summer ePray ads in time, very sad nana.

I am fairly young to this forum. I hope that my failure to follow the header with a ? mark does not imply an accusation, I meant none. After I nearly bought it I checked this link:

good for you for finding the FAQ and reading it :) i swear, people ignore it ;)

Hey Guys....

This is why you "trade dress" is so important to legit people.....These people used a picture taken by my wife and my own words to sell a product that has nothing to do with me....

Very weird feeling and it ain't a good one...I better shut up right now until i can get the legal beagles on the phone tomorrow.......

To quote the late and very great Al Mar-----ALWAYS check your six.....

Hey Ethan, yeah, this is the EXACT same productI was telling you about last Summer and being pimped on ePray. seems a couple people must have unfortunately bought them, and they're moving around.

Maybe eventually I'll get one for cheap for the "curio shelf" :) It's KIND of flattering someone is copying your stuff. Annoying maybe (YOU are not getting the $$$$$) but flattering.

If I remember, china has no copyright laws...

they can copy anything they want and sell it as there own, please correct me if I'm wrong.

oh, absolutely they can copy anything and sell anything in CHINA.

however, the USA has laws, and afaik we're not supposed to allow importation and sales of *obvious* forgeries. unfortunately, the Chinese do it *ALL THE TIME* and it's hard to fight, both legally, and in volume. customs people miss a lot of stuff, and can't stop it all. best policy: don't buy chinese products if you can avoid it. imho.

well. exciting!

Bladite, I'm sorry I did not give credit where due for your Becker/Camillus/KaBar data base. It is truly a scholarly work, and should be perused more than ocassionally by all with an intrest in the toughest knives in the world. Thanks for its existance.

Crazy stuff. If I remember correctly, there was a similar box used for a fake Becker a while ago. Looks familiar in any case. How did Venice come to own the knife would be interesting to know.

Sad stuff that fakes are made in any case. Luckily caught it before things got bad. Have to report the ebay ones now.

Ethan, I say we storm the P.R.O.C. with some real BK-6's. Me and Moose both have one, and I think he speaks a little Mandarin.

I'll back you up with my AR10. Try and line them up 5 or 6 deep! I only have 10k rnds. 7.62X51:eek:

Hey Gingivitus Kahn

That's TERRIBLE....LOL.....

BTW I had a talk with Venice Hill and he sent me a very interesting history of his transaction with the pirates in China.......He certainly appears blameless in this mess....

Holy crap...what a maelstrom!

for those who defended my good name (and few virtues)...thanks - you're on track...

1) I didn't know it wasn't a true Camillus BK6 (original)...
2) I didn't list it as a Patrol machete...it said Military Jungle Knife (read down before having an embolism)

here's what I do know...

Facts from ACME, as relayed to me on the phone at 10am this morning...

ACME bought the rights to the Camillus name...and all their designs -

The Camillus BK6 posted that blew this up is made with their knowledge overseas, and marketed legally with their approval

Is it a "orginal designed and US made Camillus BK6 Patrol Machete"...no.

Is it a "Camillus BK6 Medium Machete or Camillus BK6 Military Jungle Knife" (not made in the US) ...yes.

Now that Ernest will have one in hand (until he ships it to Bladite), he can throw down his personal critique of the 420A blade...I'll look forward to that!

Wow. That's very interesting. Thanks for looking into this and sharing it with the rest of us. I bet that's news to a lot of us!

I apologize, I am sorry I started the maelstrom, because ‘I’ got excited when I saw the listing. ‘I’ keyed on Camillus, “6”, the blade shape, AND, the clear picture of Ethan Becker, from I believe the 2001 BK&T brochure.

I was trying to raise questions and even monkey wrench a sale until experts could intervene. After all, I could not be more than 99% certain that it wasn’t what ‘I thought’ it was portrayed to be, when except for the photo of Ethan Becker, Neither the Becker name, nor the label Patrol Machete, nor BK&T were represented.
I am sorry, Venice Will, That I put you into this position. Mea culpa. J:o

From what I understand, when Ethan's name and proprietary rights went up on the block, *HE* bought his own name (and rights, and designs) even though the license was to EXPIRE anyway soon. that's right kids, Ethan owns the rights to his stuff fair and square.

ACME? Well, the design is not there, nor the handles, nor the STORY, and VERY VERY VERY importantly, afaik, not Ethan's likeness, or other bona fides. bwa hah hah!

course, Ethan will chime in shortly.

as for me, back to bed soon, had a mini-flu and i'm tired. oiy.

Venice Will, your a good guy in my books!

Oso_Blanco, no harm done! , we need more eagle eyes in this industry!
