Fake Buck Striders

There is a discussion about fake or counterfit knives over in the Kershaw forum. While perusing the site selling the counterfits, I noticed several fake Buck Striders, complete with logo:

Fake Nighthawks:

And I don't know what this is supposed to be: http://www.yjkk.com/prodetail.asp?productID=X1195

Scum!

Yes, that just ticks me off. Just one more reason why I have boycotted Chinese products.

Are these copies - or simply marketed by the actual manufacturer in their home country?

Not all Buck knives are made in the USA . . .

I stand corrected. CS Buck has responded in another thread that all Striders were produced in their factory.

My apologies for the error.

As posted by CS Buck himself. Good enough for me -

Those copies sure are accurate in the photo. Wonder what you actually get?

Some of them look pretty authentic, especially the Buck/Strider Solution copy complete with look-alike sheath and Buck Box. If I saw one in an online auction with a poor pic it would be pretty convincing.

they seem to have fakes from other brands too. i browsed like 2 pages and saw wat looks like extrema ratio.

i can't tell because i've never seen a real buck strider, but i gather from some of the posts so far that some of you can spot the differences, that photos are really of the fakes, and not using photos of the originals?

cos the buck ratios look to be of real good quality compared to some other things offered.

thanks for posting that, nice to know.i bought a fake nighthawk years ago,but that doesnt matter because i dind'dt even know the brand buck by then :P
i just liked the looks.after that i got serious with knives.
but now i see its indeed a piece of crap, its even less then worthless.
look out for them

All,

That online auction site near the bay has suddenly listed a LOT of Buck Striders and Nighthawks.......hmmmm, are they real or fake?

HOE: I saw a tanto bladed Nighthawk as well as one with a purple rubber handle on the big evil E...... I'll presume they are both fake until I'm shown otherwise.

Messersmith - "And I don't know what this is supposed to be:-http://www.yjkk.com/large/X1195.jpg"

Not an existing Buck model at all. But I did get a chance to handle it. And strangely, I think Buck ought to copy that ergo handle put on this blade. Because it actually has some good points from this handle. The blade I could do without and some redesign here and we're about set to see a Real Buck copy!

Interesting Gmann.... Copy their design and beat these guys at their own game. I like it. Although it looks enough like the new Kershaw Lahar that Kershaw would probably not be thrilled.

Where did you get to handle this knife? How was the quality?

One night in Bangkok... But let's not go there.
Knock-Off knife quality?
Well fitted. No loose parts. Didn't notice any "cosmetic flaws". Can't say about its particular steel type though, but most definately a stainless steel of the lowest kitchen grade variety would be my guess. Well, whatever it was I had to pass, no great regrets I might add. But it sure did make an impression on me about the fantastic ergo which was built into that G-10 type slab handle. It's well suited as a martial blade. Ice pick, reverse grip; additionally it makes for a really nice rear impact tip.
You could be right in that it's probably a modified knock-off model from a knife manufacturer definately NOT originating from the red Mainland. Seems all too Japanese inspired.
BTW, additionally was unfortunate enough to also come across the knock-off Nighthawk Buck fixed-blade too. Not anywhere close to the original Buck model. But sure looks close enough to fool anyone who don't know better. Tell tale signs - most especially it's light blade weight, plastic-like handle and flimsy poor quality sheath packaged along with it. Pass...

Yes, Gmann.... we need pictures ;)

Anyway, thanks for the info. It would seem that for all the work they go through to make a fake, they could make a pretty decent original design of their own. But then they couldn't pass it off as a $50 - $150 Buck....

I'm going to resurrect this thread. I'd like to know if this is a real Buck Strider Solution or a fake:

According to the reseller, this is a brand new knife from Buck and it's a USMC limited production. Only 50 pieces were made.
