Fake Buck Striders

I'm going to resurrect this thread. I'd like to know if this is a real Buck Strider Solution or a fake:

According to the reseller, this is a brand new knife from Buck and it's a USMC limited production. Only 50 pieces were made.

My vote is real Buck strider with 2nd party blade etch.
Wasn't the topic of this etched knife discussed in a different thread earlier this year? (sorry I have an excellent memory, its just really short ;) )

I think I got a fake Buck Strider too :(

Thanks wh4f. I followed up and did a search in the forum on the word "etched". Turns out there's quite a lengthy history on what the reseller claims to be a 50 knife run.

These knives sell for $100.00. That seems to be a pretty good deal for a genuine Buck Strider Solution, etch notwithstanding.

bld522,

The $100 price on these is a pretty good deal, in fact that is generally less than you can get a Solution without the blade etch.

So-Lo... where did you get your fake?

Yep, So-Lo, that's one sloppy copy. Looks like they even forgot the Buck logo.

Man,

Am I glad that I ran into this thread. There is an auction I have been following on the 'bay', auction# 200168122782, that had an unusual Buck/Strider model and I thought that I had really found something unique. Check out the auction if you get the chance because they posted some good quality close-ups.

This particular auction is listed as a 'BUCK FOLDING STRIDER BLADE' and it is coming out of Australia. According to the info in this thread, that claim is a bold lie! I have recently become aware of many fake or copy watches from China that also ship out of Australia, but I would never have thought that someone would copy these knives. Weird.

Anyway, you folks just saved me a good bunch of money and I appreciate it.

BTW/ The reason I have been searching the internet and auctions is to compile a comprehensive list of all the Buck/Strider collaborations. I have been using a brown 889 for about a year and I really like it. Not too long after buying it I was reading some article or thread on the internet that was making the claim that one of the collaboration pieces was no longer in production due to Strider's influence because it's quality was VERY GOOD and might be drawing some potential Strider customers away due to the quality. If my memory of this heresay is even close to right, I wonder which of the discontinued collaborations that would have been? My guess...the 880series. Maybe the discussion was refering to the whole contract, I dont know. I'll bet someone here can set me straight. And, although I believe my list is near complete, I am sure that someone here has a comprehensive list of the collaboration pieces and any rarities, if there be any, and I probably could have saved some TIME as well as MONEY!

Thanks,

Lima Charlie...
Thanks for the auction link. Another way to tell, based on the one pictured, is that clip is in the wrong position.

What's confusing on this one is the 100% feedback. Does that mean that this closed auction by the same seller is also a fake (etcheched instead of stamped logo)? If so they've gone out of the way to include a real box or a really good fake box.

Lima: Is your comprehensive Buck/Strider list something you would be willing to share? I'd love to see a copy.

Messersmith,

The link you are providing looks like he is selling a real Buck Strider Solution 888 complete with sheath and box, although this is the same seller that is selling the presumably fake one that I refered to earlier. After looking at all his other knife auctions, which look like legit pieces, and considering his great feedback, this seller may not even be aware of his counterfeit blade.

Also, I really cant take any credit on spotting this knife. If it wasnt for the originator of this thread, I would have been duped.

Lastly, sometime this weekend I will post and submit my comprehensive, albeit, work-in-progress list. That way maybe some of the more knowledgeable persons can enlighten me on the variations that I have missed.
