For new knives I say yes, but I buy vintage traditionals off eBay quite often. They're mostly used but I have gotten a few NOS.
Just gotta know what you're buying.

yes true true, and 99.99999% of time i do all that same research,A big part of Fleabay buying is research. If I saw a knife (or anything of value) the first thing is to inspect pics and description to see if anything is off. Next step is to look at what else the seller has listed, what they sold already, and feedback. In this case the negative feedback is already calling out previous counterfeit knives. That seller also has a Strider clone listed.
shame on me for real actually, but SHAME on that POS for pimping out fake CHICOM fake junk
Actually there are several markers i SHOULD have noticed from the pics, but certainly so in hand, also too many videos out there showing the "flaws" on the fakes.
1. silver snap buttons
2. buttons are not aligned right
3. drop point is bigger and longer
4. the pomel is shiney and "cheap" looking / cast
5. the scalops cuts are much deeper
6. rough edges on the plastic castings on the scabbard
7. lack of a box or a box that is much smaller than it should be
8. the REAL GERBERS HAVE DOUBLE LINED SILVERY REFLECTIVE LOGOS , AND "MADE IN OREGON" ETC MARKINGS!!!......the FAKE ones are SINGLE LINED and WHITE, not SILVERY reflective
hey, it was LATE at night, do i have to sit up all night to reply???
