Mods please move this if not belong here.
Some friends sent me this today asking if it's genuine:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170466789312&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
And it's a fake! I never done a folder like that one before and they even used pictures of myself there. All my folders have signed Certificate of Authenticity and are free hand engraved with model, date dd/mm/yyyy and steel inside.
Feel free to ask me before buying any GTC knife on secondary market, I have all my knives photographed to prove that I'm the one who made it.
Thanks, Gus.

I can't help but ask.
This is the metal do?

Haha that description is a perfect example of engrish.

File a dispute with ebay.

that is ALMOST unbelievable:mad:

The signs of success don't always come in the prettiest ways.

Hi Gus. They removed it so I could'nt get a look at it. Counterfiting is becoming a huge problem in the knife industry.
Blade Mag has a good article this month on it. CRK, Strider, and CRKT are all mentioned. Most of the copying is done in China with the possible consent of the communist govt. They are even copying Chris Reeve's card with his signature. Even the box is copied down to Blade Show's stickers. The CRKT's clam package is copied so well that a buyer could'nt tell the fake from the real.
Blade mentioned that a buyer getting a fake and it breaking or other problems can send the knife to the real company and getting the shock of "we did'nt make it". What Blade did'nt mention was many buyers of the fake knives may never notify the manufacturer and just never use the knife. They would then think the manufacturer makes junk and never buy from them again. Also they would denounce the manufacturer to anyone who will listen.
Gus its a terrible thing to have your name stolen. Maybe you can look at it this way. They copy the best. You know you've "made it" when their copying you.

I think the listing was ready to end anyway. I hope no one got stung from it!

That is my my biggest concern...imagine opening your email inbox with this message: "knife refund wanted..."
I'd like to thank all the friends who reported it to ebay for me, you are the best!

I'm surprised (and pleased) we don't see more of this in custom knives.
We've been fortunate compared to some collectibles.
As the price of custom knives rise thus increasing the potential payday for crooks it will become more of a problem.

Sorry I didn't see this thread before today... my guess is I got scammed too.

Any item located in China would worry me no matter what it was. One of the biggest problems I can see coming from this is what happens to the desirability of an original when the knife buying public realizes that a model is being counterfeited and it is difficult to distinguish between the two?

Got to keep on reporting them to eBay and keep knocking them off the market. Otherwise they'll know they have a gold mine and permission to steal.

Damm! you didn't get bit too bad

Here's what i asked him= "Is this knife made by Gus himself or a Copy? "Thanks

The one that sold for $355 didn't get paid for.... I know that for a fact (my little secret). The bidding was pushed high so that no one in their right mind would get "stung" by this crook. I happen to know the high bidder bid so high, way higher than $355, so no one would get screwed. The second highest bidder had no intention of buying it either (again... my little secret).
I still haven't got the POS that I won for $129.50.

Moral of the story is, don't buy anything from China. If you like something MADE in China, at least look for it from an American retailer, then you have some recourse if it's not what it's supposed to be.

Got my Chinese piece of crap in the mail today. Now if the asshole in China responds to my email requesting a return address, I'll send the counterfeit back. I've filed a complaint with ebay, even got to talk to someone from ebay on the phone. They're response was ... yada, yada, yada. All bullshit. As long as people pay their ebay charges, they really don't give a rat's ass.

Sell it to one of the guys here that prance around defending the actions of those companies saying it is no big deal. They will appreciate it since it makes no difference to them.
