Fake GTC knife on ebay...

Good thing people have been alerted. What would be worrying is this knife getting listed for sale here in the US.

Got the return address from the Chinaman, sent the knife back. I had a claim filed with EBAY & PAYPAL. The Chinaman sent payment for the knife and my initial shipping ($24) charge, but PAYPAL kept out $6.50 or so. The Chinaman asked that I drop the PAYPAL claim and I responded that I was still out 18 some dollars due to the PAYPAL fee and my return shipping. I told him if he sent that $18, I'd drop the PAYPAL claim. He then sent the $$$ and I dropped the claim. END OF STORY.

THE FAT LADY HASN'T SUNG YET !!!!!

It ain't over yet!!! I sent the knife back (USPS First Class) to China on June 25th. A few weeks later the seller then filed a claim with PAYPAL saying he didn't get the knife. PAYPAL tried to deduct the $160 some dollars from my account, which was empty and then said I have a negative balance of $160. I sent a copy of the USPS receipt and U.S. Customs form to PAYPAL and the Chinaman. As of today, the knife still hasn't been delivered!!!!!

I tried to use PAYPAL today for another ebay purchase and I couldn't because of the negative balance. I called PAYPAL and actually got to talk to real live human being!!!! And get a load of this.... he didn't have a foreign accent!!! They put my balance back to zero so that I could use PAYPAL but may still try to deduct it in the future.

What a pain in the ass....

I would guess that the guy in China got the knife and is just yanking your chain to get back at you. I don't know how you can protect yourself from this kind of crook short of "Buy American". I bought an antique knife from a guy in Europe and worried about it the whole time. I can't imagine what it would take to get me to buy something from China. Hope you get this mess squared away.

There is another place called TooToo Mart that screwed me on a chinese seiko watch. Look out for these people also.

I moved the post to a separate Thread....

i correspond w/ friends in china. you can not send a knife to an individual chinese citizen, they are not allowed to recieve them. they are confiscated and the person in china is not notified. this is mainland china. i have been talking w/ chinese knife collectors for about 5 years. have made some friends, and learned some chinese. btw, chinese are not allowed to carry any kind of knife. this applys to the urban areas, as the farmers use them in their work..............b

That explains it !!! I was just notified by PAYPAL that the Chinaman never got the knife and they are going to deduct $153.50 from my account.

That's the last time I deal with anyone outside of the USA on ebay.

these postal and governmental regulations will make a person crazy, and it's not just China. i bought a knife on ebay.france. the lady would not take paypal, she wanted an electronic transfer (my bank charges $35.00). i had planned on sending an international money order. went to 3 post offices before the clerk told me that the u.s. govt. no longer sells money orders to send to france; just stopped the previous week. the clerk didn't know why france had been eliminated. i sent a cashier's check for $40.00 which was the correct conversion from euros including shipping. the lady got the check and emailed me saying the bank charged 7 euros to make the currency conversion. pure craziness, but i was on the hook. i sent her a $10 bill and told her to send the knife quickly. i got the knife and it had a bent secondary blade that didn't show in the pix. no language problem; i can read french and write well enough for this transaction (can barely speak a word). i just got worked and re-worked........more china mailing stories also if anyone is interested (i doubt it)..................b

wow...

except for price, i wouldn't be able to tell. those are pretty darn good counterfeits.

Gus, I just went to your web site and did not see a big, huge disclaimer saying that your knives are not made in China, or that no one in China is authorized to sell them for you, on eBay or anywhere else (sorry if I missed it, but I should not have) I would do that if I were you, that way if anyone wanted to be sure they could. Certainly, all of your followers would then know. I know it's not much help but it's the least you can do. As for the buyer of the knife, I am sorry for you, I hope it is your most expensive lesson you ever get, for me that would not even be close.

Thanks Mark! I like the idea. I'll contact my web host and ask him for the changes.
Thanks for your support.
