Fake knife from wish

I have had cheap Chinese knives that lock perfect. Another just about fell apart in my hands.
yeah, buying inexpensive ones in 2's and used helps. I do appreciate bar locks on different Chinese knives for the grand kids, and tried a used Pena X-Series which was praised worthy, out of Reate I think.

I'm sorry, I just have to harp on this... have you been to China?
I have- the citizens are lovely people who live with a fraction of the standard I have. (God bless 'um).
if chinese factories can make 90% identical copy of knives for 10% of the cost and still be profitable
I propose we pay you 10% of your current wage and see how that works out.
Just imagine the value!

I smell a rat. First post and he/she is promoting a seller not endorsed by BF?

I don’t buy Chinese simply because they are notorious for theft of intellectual property. You seem to agree that buying “knockoffs” is wrong, but then justify it by saying what a potential value it might be for the end user. You’re either extremely ignorant, gullible or both. You picked the wrong forum to float your nonsense.

I believe many of you have seen youtube video of knife clones form wish.

They are fairly well made and sold for 1/10 of the price.

Selling/buying knockoffs are WRONG. But from the other angle, if chinese factories can make 90% identical copy of knives for 10% of the cost and still be profitable, all the Made In USA should really work hard on how to control the cost. Sitting behind "made in USA" and hoping to charge a premium just because of those three words doesn't help.

Imagine if it is in a war, another country could make warship, fighter jet with 10% of the cost and 90% of the performance compared to those made in USA.
You conveniently failed to address the costs of:

Engineering and design
Paying employees a living wage
Actually using the materials claimed.
Warranty and product support

You and everyone that liked your post are fools that only look at the price, not the cost of things.

He's clearly not a fighter pilot, that's for damn sure.
He's probably a younger dude annoyed with the cost of knives. I get it. And as previously discussed in another thread, I personally feel that the cost of certain knives is a little crazy. However, this is not a reason to buy a knock off. They definitely do not hold up. Also, it is wrong.
I do think I understand what he is trying to say, maybe.

Hey OP, I wish you well. I'd hang this one up though.

Honestly this thread should just be canned.

Whenever these topics come up, the op seems to always forget the idea of a living wage for the makers of the products he wants. Let say for the sake of argument, one day their owner/boss comes in to the office and says everybody is going to have their salary cut by 3/4, so they can now sell their product for the same price as a clone. Do not think they would be to happy. And that is forgetting all the other costs of manufacturing in the US.

Oh, certainly. While not my style, I do appreciate that knives like Reate, are the most honest knives you can get from China right now - passionate people who care about doing a good job. I was gifted a few Ruike knives in 14C28N and a D2 Bestech, and those are also "honest" knives, as in no design thievery, a real steel, etc. Glad to have these to learn sharpening skills on and to have as beaters, especially as they were gifts!

They definitely make some "fun" stuff too, like, I have a 6" bladed, flipper stiletto from BudK that works as well as you can work a 6" stiletto, it's hilarious and I love it. $20 bucks, knife-like-object basically. Fun stuff.

When Microtech or some such company makes a traditional-looking "Italian-style" OTF, I would be more than happy to buy it.

They (CCP sellers) steal a good design.
Slave labor or similar conditions to produce.
Materials that are not as specified.
No warranty
No product liability insurance.
No marketing costs since the real manufacturer pays those, these guys just use benefit from cheapskates that think they are buying the same article for 10%.
They mass produce without the quality compared to much lower production numbers.

Imagine if it was a war is a pretty stupid comparison. The Chinese are copies, therefore we did it first. So if we developed and dropped the atomic bomb first, and they had to learn from experience, then create it, well there wouldn't be a whole lot people left to be making fakes now would there?

I agree that some American manufacturers overcharge due to both origin and brand. However, people buy knives for those same prices and higher for Chinese made knives so who is doing the most gouging? Supposedly the companies like WE, Reate, Kizer, etc pay a more reasonable wage to their workers, but it's still nowhere near what US workers are paid and demand to be paid. So in the end, the Chinese knives have a much larger profit margin.

Fakes and clones will always be a problem so long as there are people willing to buy them.

90% of a Sebenza is still not a Sebenza, and those who know will know the difference. Also, it's definitely not 90% identical. Maybe cosmetically, but materials and fit and finish of fakes will be vastly inferior.

I’m glad you feel knockoffs are wrong, and there are many good examples above that show why Chinese clones can be sold profitably for so much less.

Do you still feel, per the quote above, that US companies don’t control costs enough?

How would you suggest they do that? Lower wages? Lower QC? Irregular schedules? No benefits? No bathroom breaks? All of these “solutions” are already, sadly, alive and well in many US companies.

Do you want knife US knife companies to model themselves on Amazon? I sure don’t.

I used to work for a place building trim for metal roofs. They worked us 16 hours a day, give or take, with a couple 20 hour days thrown in there too. They expected you to always come into work the next day, even after 20 hours.
You were not allowed any breaks besides lunch break.
If you used the bathroom too many times, the supervisor would start harping at you.

That's the only job I didn't give a 2 weeks notice when I finally quit. Apparently my boss was surprised I quit.

Oh, and by the way. They would let us run out of cut-gloves. I uses to have pictures of my hands and my coworkers hands covered in cuts and blood, with what was left of our gloves taped up.

I have no idea why I worked there as long as I did. Dumb and stubborn I guess.

Well, S S1000V if you are in a betting pool to see who could be the most successful troll to generate the most indignant posts, YOU WIN!

Over the last many years, any time, any mention of copying, counterfeit, "look alikes" or anything else like that subject comes up, even when innocently started it generates a huge thread. The same folks probably at this time have their responses ready to block/copy/paste on the meaning of integrity, lessons in manufacturing/economics/the Chinese economy and the value of America are dredged up from under the dead horse, long beaten to death here many times over. Expect self righteous indignation, lecturing, reprimands, political vomit, and even a dose of wokeness about worker's rights.

Good work! With only two posts yourself, you know it will be members arguing with members, till someone gets a hurt behind and reports it to the moderators. Also, if this is a real bet or contest, hope you had the over on it making 75 posts or more. You are in a target rich environment, so you should be in great shape if you had the "over" on the count.
