Anyone use a watchmaker or jeweler 10X loupe and look close at a real ZT logo and KAI markings on the blade?
Do so and post what you see.
How easy is that fine laser etching to reproduce?
Is the suggestion the true truth detector?
buy from a reputable dealer and you never have to worry about fakes
really though, the counterfiters are getting better, but there are many ways to tell a fake....the lazer markings aren't always the way...though they can be telling. The ZT logo has a faceted or chiseled look under magnification, fakes are generally not that detailed....but they keep getting better.
Yeah agree and have observed the pictured layered appearances done in that fine laser etching.
Also, at the top right of the ZT logo is a tiny TM readable but not seen without the loupe.
I became curious after learning from info comparing engraving to stamping. So decided to check out under magnification what laser etching is.
Super straight finely spaced lines on Zt knives that really is a work of art IMO
As said above the biggest defining indicator of a fake is where you got it. I've spotted a fake PM2 at Cabela's which I believe to be a rare event but it can happen. It was 2 returned PM2s. The return folks had no idea. I do not think such a thing would happen with our supporting dealers here. They know their stuff too well. If it comes a time when we need high magnification to spot a fake I think we are all in a great amount of trouble. At that point, the manufacturing detail on the fake might be unfeasibly expensive for the counterfeiters to consider doing. At least that is my hope.
LOL My sense says that knife and gun folks who have traded for a long time are good people.
Good examples also to the newbe.
I know if I spend money I want the article more than the money.
What ever I can find and learn along the way is again part of the process
Where I don't feel so different than many others,
Yet I am in Good Company
