Can someone provide me with a general guide to identify a genuine versus fake Large sebenza 21 of recent manufacture. Should I take it apart?

I would say the first step in making sure you get the real deal is to buy from reputable dealers, and avoid auction sites like fleabay or places like craigslist.

thats a good idea, I will take some high res photos after work. any thing in particular that I need to photograph?

Considering the member you purchased it from has 22 feedback comments, all positive, I would assume its real.

I have no reason to question the member; I feel he is the good man and made an honest deal but he got the knife on a trade. I am just seeking feed back.

I take it you never owned a sebenza before?
The thread you purchased it from has great pictures. It looks fine.

The paper work is real.

You can take is apart and look for the stamp on the blade and carburized lock bar area.

You are correct, I have nerver purchased a sebenza before. I have enjoyed my interactions with the member. I was actually shocked when I learned how many fake knives are coming out of china. It made me wonder.

Bella, why do you mention the carburizing? I have a couple of sebbies that do not seem to have been carburized, and they both have lock stick. Should I be worried about fakes?

Thanks.

pics are a must

why doesnt this get asked/moved in the chris reeeve section.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but when did they start carburizing the lock bars. I assumed they always have.
