If this is a real Sebenza, I may get the deal of a life time.

Please help me tell if this is a real Sebenza so I don't over spend on a cheapo fake.

FAKE FAKE FAKE.... That guy is selling them on my local CL. Absolutely NOT real.

Not real. The thumbstud is wayyy too tall. The other side should have a detent hole on the lockbar, too, unlike the real Sebenza. That's the second newest generation of Sebbie fakes.

Grainy pics FTW!

I would've said that I can't really tell from those pictures and without handling it, but obviously some people's eyes are more trained than my own.

Ah, you must also be from Vancouver. Thanks, I was as ready to jump on that as a college dude would be ready to jump on a naked drunk chick.

I would have said that too, before, but after you've owned a real one and have come to appreciate all the little nuances, those fakes are glaringly obvious.

It's a good chance I'll own atleast a Sebenza, if not an Mnandi, before the year's out. At this point, though, I don't think I can appreciate the tolerances and nuances that come with a $400 non-custom folder. I've never spent more than about $150 for a knife, so I've a ways to go. I've handled lots of CRKs, though, and always end up ALMOST pulling the trigger before my wallet tells me "Not yet". I have friends that are knife collectors that actually stopped collecting knives once they bought a CRK. I'm not even sure if that's a vice or a virtue...LOL

Yes I live downtown. You’re at UBC I am guessing? You have to be careful on our Craigslist. It’s chock full of scammers. Dave’s Tactical in New West is a CRK dealer and they have real, new Sebenzas in stock when you get up the scratch for one.

No I'm in Burnaby. I'll keep that in mind about craigslist, I was just seeing if I could snatch up a deal. Thanks for pointing out the shop! I only knew about Warriors and Wonders and their lack of Sebenza was saddening in case I ever wanted one.

No need to rush it, it was a while before I got a CRK. And there are plenty of much cheaper knives that function just as well or better. The CRK ones just offer a luxury that you don't feel with the others. Honestly, though, I don't think I would have appreciated it if I had gotten it when I was just starting into knives.

Wrong Grind, Wrong Thumbstud, Wrong Lanyard Pin, and I'm sure more trained eyes can spot more.

Sebenza really seems like a grail of a knife.

Head over to Dave’s and hold one in your hand... You’ll immediately know why everyone is crazy about them. I’m saving for one now. I had a small micarta inlayed one a while back but sold it before I moved to Canada. I am going to get a new one as soon as I can get up the cash. I just bought a CRK fixed blade from Dave’s last week. It kind of slowed down my Sebenza fund but it was worth it lol

I'll be there next time I'm at the Westies then! Thanks for the suggestion, I've been dying to see what it's all about!

That is the cheapest and most incorrect knock off of the high-end fakes and it is easily spotted, some of the others are not as easy to tell apart.

I'm not sure if the seller altered the listing or if no one caught it before, but the knife's description (after you click the title) states:

new sebenza 21 clone

Not that that makes it right or anything, but at least the guy isn't blatantly passing it off as original (beyond the obviously mis-leading title, that is).
