This is happening with all kinds of knives lately. I know ebay is full of fake Militaries and PM2s

I hate to say this . But this is what happens when American companies share there technology with other country . You save money but at the end you loose your product . I wonder if benchmade has this problem ?

Probably, I was recently given a fake Benchmade balisong. It's A hunk of garbage, but to the untrained eye (and somebody not acquainted with quality,) it would be passable.

How do you know this is true? They could just as easily bought a legitimate product and reverse engineered it.

Some sellers are very blatant about selling knockoffs.
Found a "Rick Hinderer Framelock Design Knife" for $39.95.
I emailed the seller to ask which company was having these made and the response was; "This is a knockoff made in China. It is a well made knife and stands up to the real deal very well for the price."
The auction even states, "Identical MARKINGS (photoshoped out in pics) and construction to the CTS XM-18 at a fraction of the price."

Sadly that's the case. Apparently a certain chinese based member on this forum was buying high end blades like militaries, southards, sebenzas, and hinderers and manufacturing fakes

That's why I said technology . The technology for most part come from USA . Once you have the technology you can copy anything . Once You share technology with other country that don't respect patent this is what happens .

I stay away from ebay for knives and most members are reliable on here. Those fakes were fairly obvious as they came with the black scale and the asking price was way too low, but they are a fairly good match. Just buy from people you think are reliable or are rated so and official dealers.

Ask folks that own Ganzo, they ripped off several Snody designs that were originally released an Benchmade, then HK models.

Yep, but wasn't it one of those companies that made the Red Line in the first place? I could be wrong.

Does BKC even sell outsourced knives any more?

I was given two Gerbers, a Sog and a beautiful benchmade for my birthday in October from a group of friends. Everyone was a counterfeit, the Benchmade being one of the better Counterfeits I have seen

All that's needed is an example of the real knife, a computer controlled milling machine and someone that knows how to use it. A friend of mine wanted a Sebenza 25, couldn't find one through the trusted dealers. So, he took a chance and bought this one through eBay. While the knife was decent enough, the date card was very poorly done. (couldn't see it plainly in the eBay pictures, in person it was very apparent) There was even a registration card, addressed to CR Knives included. The knife even had the unique feel of a Sebenza when opening it. eBay is fast becoming an untrustworthy place to purchase many popular brands. Only good thing is under their newer policy, you will be able to recover your money, but who needs the hassle?

Sorry about the link. Just wanted to warn you guys. Can't believe how many fakes are out there. I say a few obvious ones on ebay for para2s. I flagged them to ebay. I guess I'll stick to reputable sellers. Teying to save a few bucks can get us in trouble!

just do your research on the seller and product in question before you buy. I have bought a few items from same seller through eBay and have no doubt that I have gotten authentic Spydercos. But be careful out there!

plenty of fake benchmades and chinese axis lock knives out there.

I'm very cautious buying knives on eBay. If they have over 100-200 transactions and have 99%+ positive feedback, then I pull the trigger.
