I was looking at a fake strider smf on one of those China websites, and one was being advertised with carbon fiber and a s35vn blade. Now I'm not one to buy fakes but for $120 ish if it really is s35 it might be worth it. What do you guys think? Could it be s35vn?

Not advocating at all mind you and while there are many cheapo fakes there are some extremely good fakes that while costing over a hundred bucks are very good knives. I once read that Mick Strider said he had a hard time telling some of the better fakes apart from his own.

Dont buy one if you are looking at a real one because they will never be the same.

Are there some china knives that are at or even exceed older Striders quality... Yes

At least spend that money and buy a legitimate brand, like Reate or Kizer. Friends don't let friends buy fakes.

Why would you think someone that steals a design and/or name would be honest about the blade steel?

What's so special about S35VN?!

More to the point, you are buying a direct fake.

It is a complete copy of someone else's ideal.
It destroys a very important safety net that all businesses (especially small ones) rely on, a patent.
This patent buy's them time to recoup the funds that they invested in developing an idea, from the initial sketches through the entire investment required to manufacture the product and market it.

Please try to respect that.
If you came up with a knife idea, went through everything it takes to get it made, and found success, you would hate to see a clone of your hard work on Alibaba or Ebay....

However, if you are good with all that, go for it....

Never said I would buy one.. Just was asking if they would really use s35. Any way I will probably never buy a real strider to far out of my price range ( I'm happy with my Emerson's) was just seeing if I could experience the strider thing for less money and go from there. Victor..

Well Said JR88FAN. I agree with you 100% on everything.

The only thing I could add, is that; like you say, if he is okay with all of that.. When (not if) it has a service problem, who is he going to send that fake to, to get serviced?

It could just end up being a really expensive paper weight that looks like a nice knife.

Get a real one dont waste your hard earned money on junk. Save up some more money, then stalk the exchange they pop up pretty cheap from time to time just got to be quick.

Do you really think that a company that is ripping off a known maker is not going to lie about the steel they use and do you think you have any recourse?

I would never support people making fakes, clones knock-offs or whatever you call them, and I certainly wouldn't trust them as far as
any claims about materials used, craftsmanship or warranty.

If you want an SMF buy the real thing. If you currently can't afford it, save up, but never waste money supporting thieving clone makers.

Even at 1/5 the price of the real deal, they're still very poorly made for what they cost. There are a number of videos out there from people who have bought them and universally the quality is total garbage. If cost is an issue, use your money to buy a low cost but quality knife from a reputable brand like Kershaw and stop funding organized crime.
