Fake umnumzaan on eabay

This is kinda scary! But can you tell me, what tipped you off to know it's fake? It looks legit to me (but who am I), and even appears to have the ceramic ball in the lock bar.

On a positive note: I now know that I can get at least 370 for mine on ebay! I tried selling it on BF, and nobody wanted it. Hmmmmmm...

the positioning of the text "idaho made" looks to be off, as well as the laughable jimping.

I agree, how could you tell. The grind looks a little suspect, but I figured that is just the camera playing tricks.

The pocket clip is too long looks to have a torx there is no beveling around the lock bar circle back by the clip and the baby blue cloth and no box cause that knife comes in a black box with silver chris reeve writing

I just sent the seller a bs message just to see what he had to say. Prototype....lol

"Is this a prototype or a pre production umnumzann, because the text "idaho made" looks out of position, as well as the non standard jimping, and the space beween the frame and the lockbar that has been cut away, and the color of the cleaning cloth, and the pocket clip (material, position, length) and the champher around the edges off the pivot. And do you think i could get a replacement birth certificate card for this knife from chris reeve?"

Good message but with an hour to go and 370 bucks in his pocket,I doubt you'll be getting a quick response.

Yeah, i know. Got nothing better to do on a rainiy saturday afternoon though. I feel bad for the person that gets that in the mail. Super rare magnetic titanium scales and all.

thats good of you letting people know..i never cease to be amazed and enjoy the integrity of the community here at bladeforums:thumbup::thumbup:

If you want to screw with the seller. Throw a high bid on it, win it, and then don't pay for it. There are no repercussions as long as you only do it to this buyer once. They can only block you from bidding on their auctions. It takes a few weekd before they can throw it onto another auction.

Or at least that's what I've heard! HA

At this point, it's too late to do much of anything. What I have done in the past (and .... with good results for the unfortunate buyer) is wait until the buyer leaves feedback for the seller (that way, I have access to the buyer's ID). Send the buyer a msg pointing out all the things that make the knife a counterfeit. Give the email address for CRK for verification, if necessary. On all of the occasions I have done this, the buyer got a refund (sometimes after resorting to getting PayPal involved).

Check out the "real deal" microtechs he's been seeling in his sales history. Doesnt look like its his first rodeo.

I gotta say, I'm one that could have been taken by this. Looks real to me, but no id card does make me pause. But how long before that is just copied too?

This is the worst case scenario for these copy knives, someone paying their hard earned money and getting what? Nothing! Really sad to see this happen and kudos to anyone that helps the buyer get his money back. Its good to see people act on what's right and wrong.
