Fake ZT0620CF?

I may have done something foolish... I bought a BNIB 0620CF for $200 shipped on eBay. At the time I thought it was a great deal because everyone else seems to be getting $240 for them and I hadn't seen them counterfeited. The guy has good feedback and has a couple of ZT & BM knives listed. Earlier today while searching for reviews I ran across a counterfeit that looks identical to the 0620CF, and now I am worried. The knife will be delivered tomorrow and I would like to know if there is any way I am going to be able to tell if this thing is legit.

Hi Matt -

I hate that my friends here would get taken, and I sincerely hope that you indeed receive a ZT product.

That said, I would encourage all of my friends here that want an authentic knife to deal only with BF supporting dealers.

You are rolling the dice every time you buy on the bay.

Good luck, sir!

" The guy has good feedback and has couple of zt's listed." Sounds legit so far..
Errrr..... Why not wait till the knife comes to you and carefully inspect before alarming yourself.. ?
Post a pic here when it arrives if any suspicion if it helps to get to bed at night...

You are covered via eBay buyer protection. Just need to file a claim if you feel the knife is not a genuine ZT. Most of the fake ZT clones out there on eBay tend NOT to come with the box and paperwork. There are ton of ZT 0770 (alum version) floating around on eBay along with fake 0562CF M390 version as well. Very sad indeed, just remember eBay tends to favor buyers over sellers. Good Luck!

With all due respect this is flat out untrue. To say EVERY TIME is wrong. There are plenty of authorized dealers on the bay and with some due diligence you can find some good buys. That being said, I absolutely agree with supporting BF dealers, and this practice is especially encouraged if the knife is a commonly faked model.

This!

Is it a 204P or M390 model? The only fakes I have seen have been stamped M390. Additionally, see if the serial number matches the UPC on the box. That's a detail the counterfeiters miss, even though they now change the serial numbers from unit to unit.

That is absolutely true, you can find some of the reputable dealers on ebay.

If I want to buy from one of those dealers, I just go directly to them though, not through ebay.

I have been on the bay since 1999 and have only been bitten a couple of times, and both times I knew I was taking a chance....

It's still wrong to say EVERY TIME because you just admitted that the authorized dealers are in fact there selling their knives. Moreover, I know of at least 5 authorized dealers who use the bay "store" as their EXCLUSIVE online presence with no other website to speak of. And even if that number was "1", it still debunks your claim of EVERY TIME. I also know several buyers who like building feedback and don't go to an alternative online store to buy from a dealer who sells on the bay and is known to be legit. Lastly there are so many knives that have no known fakes in existence (ie; knives that are inexpensive, or from china to begin with). Why not be less stubborn and admit you were exaggerating just a bit?

Oh ok... Then it was just an issue with semantics. It sounded like you were defending your original statement looking at the words "true" and "untrue". No worries and happy holidays.

Post a pic of the one you saw on the internet that you say is a perfect clone.
Don't post the link, just save the pic to your desktop and upload the pic

Otherwise this thread is pretty pointless.

Ya, the worrying isn't worth the money I was trying to save. I was just being cheap. I've had success in the past buying knives on eBay. I just got worried when I saw the copy, and yes, I'm covered by buyer protection, but after seeing the copy I'm a little concerned about being 100% on the knife. I've handled them in person and have other dealer bought ZT knives, but I'm still a little worried. It's a 204P. That's a good point Comeuppance. The copy I'm referring to is a M390. The knife was supposed to be here Saturday, but it was a no show. I tracked the knife and the thing departed the origin facility 4 days, ago and hasn't "arrived" anywhere yet??? USPS Priority Mail at its finest. I will post pics if and when I receive it. There is also a video review of the fake on YouTube. It can be found by searching for "copy zt 0620cf". The box and label are a little off but the knife looks really good. Images were already posted by another member in this thread They are the same ones I ran into on the Chinese site.

The problem I have with who ever this dealer is, is that they are breaking the ZT Minimum advertised price policy. Any dealer out there that is willing to openly advertise below the pricing structure is shady. They are hurting all the other dealers who are working hard to do it right. All the other legitimate dealers out there are spending their hard earned money to advertise and show potential customers that these knives are very much worth the price point that is being asked. So in my opinion, fake or real, the dealer is scuzzy!

I've gotten a fake ZT 0200 off the bay before, from a guy with good reviews. Was covered by their protection though, so no worries. You'll come out on top either way. If it is a fake and you've handled the real thing before, you'll know the difference.

Well... USPS lost it and it wouldn't track. I called them and they said "it might just show up" LOL. Then they had someone track it down and it finally came. 2 Day USPS took 7 days. Still not that bad, I guess. Looks like I was worried about nothing. Here it is and she looks legit to me! So I ended up getting a good deal plus a few more gray hairs. Thanks for everyone's input!
