fake?

Just perusing the spyderco.com forum and came across this http://http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38345

Hope I'm wrong but it looks like a fake to me.I have one the same but mine cost $4 from china.They are a convincing counterfeit except for the light colored etching on the blade,light colored clip and unspyderco like screws on the scales.The one I bought was not marketed as a spyderco but arrived with all the UKPN markings.Look closely before buying from private sellers on Ebay.

Looks like a real UKPK to me, the only thing that looks wrong is that you can't switch it to left hand carry.

Wow... No alternative for LH carry, and matching it up to mine, I think the Spyderco Bug is placed a little farther from the round hole then the real deal. Course, I could be wrong, without holding it in my hand, or having someone from Spyderco chime in.

Those look like genuine red Xs to me :p

Having actually looked at those pics you have on flickr it is a pretty convincing copy.
As mentioned the one sided clip mounting and etching are a bit of a give away.
The other thing I noted is that the "Sal" tag looks a bit lower on the one you
have over the 2 genuine UKPKs I have, but is is kind of hard to tell just from pics.
 
We sure it’s a fake and not a prototype or something like that? Seems that if you forget a few details it’s a very convincing fake.
