That appears to be a multi-modal item: thrust and stab as well as a slash and chop.
Some thoughts on design...If you straighten the blade a bit (keeping the straight-line overall length the same) that should decrease the weight a bit; what would it do to the balance point? That should move towards the hilt, I suppose, because there would be less metal forward for the same straight-line length. I must say it looks very good as is, anyway.

It was a good looking effort -- just a bit heavier than we thought it would be.
