Falcon II... Too many straps!

Ok, so I bought a Maxpedition Falcon II a few months ago. I've used the thing once. While I love the "hard-use" feel and ruggedness of the bag (I think it would survive a nuclear blast), I can't seem to manage all of the straps! In particular, the ones on the bottom for a sleeping bag or bedroll. Assuming I'm using this for a day hike, what the hell is to be done with these? They just hang down and look ridiculous, not to mention get in the way. It seems the more I try and tighten up the bag and reduce bulk, I'm left with tons and tons of extra strap length. I don't want to cut any off, but with the bag on and girded, it looks like a mix between a rag doll and something only a mall-ninja would wear.

don't have a pic handy but google "itw web dominator". basically, you roll up the loose strap and the web dominator wraps around it.

I too have a Falcon II and it is the bag I carry everyday to work. I have taken off the top Y strap and the waist strap. I keep them in the bottom of one of the compartments. As for the roll straps on the bottom, I just snug them down and fold the excess length and secure it with a rubber band. Just don't cut stuff off, it might come in handy.

I had web dominators on mine (bottom straps). The web dominators work great.
I did remove the waist strap, which is more of a belly strap.
However, paired with a Proteus waist pack, you get more storage plus a true hip belt.

Thanks, JV3 for the web dominators suggestion. Looks like exactly what I'm needing. I just took off the waist strap. Much better. I'm really liking that Proteus Waist pack.

Nice ass.
