So I just wanna give my opinion on these. I have tried and still have so many knives and for pure users the basic Falkniven line has to be some of the best all around users. They offer so much and have no extra BS or gimmicks. There razor sharp with great ergos and super tough and very low maintanence needed, also are very light to carry. I just love the handles for the environment and bloody slimy tasks I use them in. Great bushcraft / outdoorsy knives. From kitchen to hunting to camping and anything else you could use a knife for these 3 and a small folder like swiss army pioneer is my choice. Again just my opinion. I still use and have many other high end knives but I could be just fine with these 3. http://

I even like the sheaths. I know a lot don't but I like how slim they are. I've carried them in my front jeans pocket at times. They take no space and have thrown the A1 in the small of my back in the waist band too. Even swimmin with them is a breeze like that. I spend a lot of time in swamps and rivers.

Cycletroll I would get the F1 to go with the A1. The S1 is a better 1 knife carry. I need to get a WM1 but I would say that is even better companion to all of them. And alberta Ed I agree. They are so small to carry. Those sheaths are great compact for carrying. Even if you stuff them in a backpack or whatever they take no room. I feel like my post will be seen as fanboy ish but they really amaze me on there quality and function. I also love Busse/ swamp rat/ and scrapyard Res-c models, and they offer a lot of the same but the choils and other stuff are really kinda of a waste and what not on the smaller knives. Like I said the Falkniven's are pure function.

Hi! Add me on the list of the Fallkniven enthusiasts :). The F1 (the “old” one, not the Pro) is my go-to fixed blade when hiking/camping. The A1 saw lot of action just after I have purchased it several years ago but, as time went by, I felt it was a bit “too much” for my use. To process wood, if I have the need – which is not often also because of strict regulations in the areas I normally hike – I’d rather take my X5 or the Felco 600. Fallkniven knows their stuff !

About sheaths, I am also OK with those. Not the nicest but surely very practical. No problem with water, rain or snow, the blade just dry out by itself. Sure it “rattle” a bit but, if I’m not hunting, I can live with that :).

I like my Fallkniven knives as well.
I have taken a real liking to my F1d with the COS steel. It is a really nice knife.
I hope the company brings out an A1d and a S1d knife as well.

Take care
Anthony

The typical "hunting knife " here is 4" and my modified TK-1 [drilled tang to improve balance with nicer Black Ash Burl ] fills the needs with the very fine 3G blade . Great for taking apart a deer ,other uses are secondary. Bigger deer like the red deer or elk like the S-1 . I never got the A-1 which would be better with it's larger handle for my large hand.

I have a solid not laminated s1, and a laminated f1, I have been reluctant to use them because I cannot sharpen too well and missed out on having fun with them in the outdoors. I asked this on the other bushcraft forum, what are some easier way to sharpen them without using a lansky, etc type system, strop or stones?

My A1 is hard to replace. Love the no nonsense take on this seriers of knives. They just beg to be used.

Awesome pics folks just what I needed for comparison sake. Thanks cut it out for the nice pics of all three knives side by side. I'm thinking about the a1 and f1 myself and I'm with you on the no choil thing. There are way to many knives made with those choils that just get in the way and snag on stuff and just waste blade length that otherwise would make a great knife.

Hi! Well now that’s fun because I have the opposite problem: I use a Lansky system for my folders exactly because all my free-hand edges (on a KAI stone 400/1000 at home and with the Fallkniven DC4 in the fields – the rare times I have to resort to it) come out convex-ish… :) Everyone has his own struggles :D . One thing it’s often suggested to get convex edges properly, with relatively little effort, it’s the sandpaper over computer mouse pads, a lot of tutorials available. Don’t allow this to let you down, have fun with your Fallkinvens :)! Worst case, if you really mess up the edges with sharpening, you can always send them in to a professional. I did that once, with my A1, after got some chipping in its first day use! Good luck!

So I've always been reluctant to pull the trigger on one of these due to the handles. They are similar materials and construction to my CS SRK and I've found that over time and hard use the handle on that isn't doing well and has started to look very worn. I know a micarta or a plastic non rubberized handle would hold up better. Can someone that has used theirs more than a decade attest to the condition of their Falkniven handle after long hard use? For the cost of one I want something that will outlast me and go to my son some day.

It's actually one of the nicest knives I've ever used. Pricey but well worth it in my opinion

I only have an f1, but I do like it quite a lot. It's definitely in the running for my favorite in it's size range. Lately I've been looking at the Northern Lights line but haven't been able to pull the trigger on one yet. Partially because I don't know which one to buy... first...
