Falkniven some of the best all around users

I only have an f1, but I do like it quite a lot. It's definitely in the running for my favorite in it's size range. Lately I've been looking at the Northern Lights line but haven't been able to pull the trigger on one yet. Partially because I don't know which one to buy... first...

Don't wait too long, because of the huge increase in price!
There are still a few places who still have them in stock at the old pricetags.
DLT is one, but there are others too.

If popularity is a guideline You could start with the NL5, second is the NL1 followed by the NL3, NL4 and last the NL2.
Personally I started with the NL2 and NL5 followed by the NL1 and lastly the NL4.
I will not get the NL3, because I think it's too much in between the other models.

Others have the NL3 as their favorite NL.

The one that sees most belttime of my 4 is the NL5, due to the practical size.
So, I would say get Your first NL in the size that You have the most use for!

So I've always been reluctant to pull the trigger on one of these due to the handles. They are similar materials and construction to my CS SRK and I've found that over time and hard use the handle on that isn't doing well and has started to look very worn. I know a micarta or a plastic non rubberized handle would hold up better. Can someone that has used theirs more than a decade attest to the condition of their Falkniven handle after long hard use? For the cost of one I want something that will outlast me and go to my son some day.

I have used my Kraton H1 for ten years now and it's still intact.
Nowadays the H1 is in Thermorun, wich is harder than Kraton.

I believe FK Kraton handles as a general are more dense than CS Kraton.
Anyway, FK offers a rehandling service for the F1, S1 and A1, if the handles are wornout.

Thanks for the extremely helpful (albeit likely very expensive) heads up! I didn't realize there was a big price increase underway.

Thanks for the extremely helpful (albeit likely very expensive) heads up! I didn't realize there was a big price increase underway.

It started already at January 2th 2017!

An example;
I got the NL1 in 2010 and payed 4000 SEK with a dealer discount.
Today the NL1 is 7900 SEK at FK official website.
Almost 100% in 7 years!

If You want a reasonable deal on the NL's You are probably in a hurry.

Well, I'm sure I want to eventually end up with the nl1 and nl5, so the 1 would probably be the place to start since it's the most expensive and probably subject to the largest price increase. Thanks a lot!

I ordered a f1 should be here today. Thinking about getting a a1 and s1 as well. I may also grab a kydex sheath for the f1 to IWB EDC it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Good to hear they make good knives. I have been wanting to buy my first Fallkniven knife. I think this will be the year to pick one up!

I consider Fallknivens to be the best readily available production knives around. But they don't "make" the knives, any more than US companies like SOG or Cold Steel "make" their knives.

I have a WM1 as well. I find it to be a very handy knife but I haven't used it a lot yet. I think the handle is a good size and the blade cuts well. It is easy to keep in my pocket as I am walking around in the bush.

I have many fixed blades - too many but the A1 will be among the last to should I ever thin the herd.

Great feed back guys. Seems a lot of guys have them but you don't hear much about them it seems. Looking at them they don't seem like anything special but in use it becomes very clear how awesome they are. Like I said earlier, pure function and form with very high quality. http://http://

You certainly don't see many A1's or A1 pros S1's F1's and certain other Fallknivens for sale around here on the fs forum.

I've had Fallknivens for years, don't plan to be without them !!! The F1 & A1 are my favorites of all knives in their particular sizes.

I wanna try the northern lights models to someday, but more or less just for looks. Can't imagine them being any better users than the thermorun and Kraton handled ones. Also wanna get the F2 and a WM1 to complete my collection.

I'm curious about the 3g steel as well if it's any better than the Cos steel that Fallkniven uses in it's knives. Have any of you folks around here used the two different steels to compare them against each other. I guess they would use it in their A1 pro if were better or maybe it would make the A1 too expensive. I'd like to see a 10 or 12" bladed chopper also but not sure which steel would be the best for said chopper.

3G shines if You avoid a hairsplitting sharpness and set the microedge a little bit thicker.
It will hold the edge "forever" or somewhere around 6 to 12 months.

Someone said that FK is working on a new release of a 10" blade in CoS.
So maybe You will see Your wish come true, but the pricetag will be high on this one.

Six to twelve months of using and still sharp! That's pretty good I'd say and hopefully the big bladed chopper will come to fruition. I already have a user NL1 and it's quite thick and definitely stout. We shall see what the future brings in knives from Fallkniven. Thanks for the info Mikael.

Yes it was my SK3 Juni and it came with a thick but sharp edge.
I used it for a whole year, before the first resharpening.
During that period, I did maintenance on a leatherhone with chromepolish, but no real need for sharpening.
As I wanted a little less cutting resistance, I have now thinned the edge a little but it it still fairly thick.

About the new big CoS 10" knife, the first knives seems to already have been made and maybe the release will be this summer.
