Fall in the swamp, warning : dead animal pics included

awesome pictures! swamps are beautiful places that sometimes get a bad rap :(

so who exactly FELL into the swamp?? :)

Great pics!! I love and miss the southern Cypress swamps. Much like the Everglades they are always so alive, make me feel so alive...and so aware. And it takes a lazy person to starve there :)

Some of the images are "haunting."

But other reinforced my conviction that I do not coexist well with reptiles that can kill me, and others that can eat me.

Those snakes need a good, hard freeze.

Thank you.

I have no idea what you are talking about... ;)

What is this?

Very nice, makes me miss FL and all the critters.....you've sure got a nice place there, I would be tempted to make camp my home. Rufus made me smile with that last pose, good lookin' dog.

Thank you.

Tell your friends up north that Florida has lots of bugs and scary reptiles!

Thanks!

:)

As an old swamper myself, thanks for those great pictures, fishshooter. I wish I had boat so I could go out on the Altamaha river swamps today. The swamps in Fall are a wonderful place. Lots of food all around, in the air, the water, and on the ground. You take great pics, bro. :D:thumbup:

This picture is great... and some still say that dogs can't have the same emotions as people...... pffft.

cool pics fishshooter, did you catch any fish

Sure didn't. I put out a dozen bush hooks and only caught a gar. I left him on the line to calm down a bit, came back to get him and there was nothing left but his head. I'm going to put out some more lines tonight, it's going to be cold, so I shouldn't lose anything to the gators.

how do you prepare your gar? i've heard it's pretty good when cooked properly.

Hey Otis, my Dad and I ran lines and did some rod and reel fishing a few nights ago. We caught another gar on one of the lines. However, we had already caught a pile of catfish and popped a couple of ducks right at dusk, we had a mess to clean already and was it was getting late when we were heading back to camp, so we turned the gar loose. Here are a couple of pics, he was a decent fish but we have been catching bigger. Next time we clean one, I'll snap some pics. The process invloves bleeding the fish out, cutting it along the backbone, working the hide off and cutting fillets that run adjacent to the backbone. You can fry or saute' the meat.
