Managed to get out for a bit of a hike today - weather was gorgeous.

Talk about a difficult mission - found out I only had one knife with wood handles, excluding my Linders machetes and an old modified WWII bayonet.

So, this is it ( a Buck 112):

Couple more scenery shots:

A fungus picture for those that like them:

I really liked the way the tree reflected in the water under the bridge.

The only tree that flowers in the fall (at least around here) - very time appropriate too, seeing Halloween is upon us - Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) - used for cosmetic and herbal applications as well as a water dowser and other things.

There, I wanted to get 4 pictures in here, because I have 10 others that I might put in a new thread, so as to not hijack this one.

Were did you get this beast?

It's Svörd (New Zealand) Von Tempsky Bowie. I got it specially from Svörd directly, but there should be some retailers that sell it worldwide.

It's definitely the most efficient big sized knife I've ever owned, propably my favorite knife.

Hey Furync, I've got one of the Zlatoust knives myself...haven't used it yet though. How do you like yours? -Matt-

Hi Matt,

I love mine. I've used it quite a bit last year but I use it only for field dressing game. I should use it a bit more but I have other knives to do other things... :o
