Well today was an interesting day.

Up a 4:30 which was really 3:30 thanks to the time change.

Not much going on really.

Clicked on the computer to see what was happening.
Much to my dismay, the last lead foundry in the United States is closing.
I don't see this as a good thing.

How will I feed my lead delivery devices?

Enough of the bad news, I decide to watch some TV,

Wait, I don't own a TV.

So I go outside and flip on the Outdoor Channel.

Living up here the reception is poor. The Canadians nine miles to my north, have some great shows. Like Ren & Stimpy, here where I am we are not so lucky. All I could get today was Frick & Nippy,

Every channel I tried, it was the same show Frick & Nippy,

So I checked the news. CNN (Chateaugay News Network) Apparently the was some big foot race about eight hours south of here in some town called the Big Apple. Must have a lot of fruit trees there I guess. The race was won by some guy from Kenya. I am amazed at how many races here are won by guys from Kenya.

Anyways back to the Outdoor Channel.
Must be a Frick & Nippy marathon,

Everywhere I look it's Frick & Nippy, so I decide to build a fire with the BK-4

The BK-4 is a lot like me, a Tool, but very well balanced,

It is so Frick & Nippy even the hot tub is frozen,

The fire helps,

Then the outdoor Channel announces a new pilot show in the works,

The Mad Trapper of Chateaugay!
About some guy who wears a fur hat

Drinks too much, and has a big knife,

It will cover tracking,

Camp craft,

Fire Building,

And of course beer tasting,

I think it will be a hit,

Pffft, looks like nothing good on TV again! That same ole syndication!

Just kidding, looks like one hell of a good time!

Loved the post! I am incredibly jealous of the spread you have there. My wife and I will be looking to purchase a home away from the crazies before long. I think it's awesome that you don't own a TV

Getting out and using your knife of choice, looks like a great time.
I need to get my winter camp together.

Nice way to spend the day. Looks cold out...I wish we would get some snow around here. Nice looking 4 you got there.

Man I spent an hour last night looking for that program, must be on the premium package?

Great post. Love being out in the winter woods, the air feels so still and quiet. You're a very lucky man to be able to enjoy that, thanks for sharing!!

Man I get sooo jealous seeing outdoor pics.......I gotta move out of the suburbs!!

There's something about cold weather Becker pics that just makes me feel all awesome inside.

Thanks!! Good times!

LV - I lived up near there for a few winters - lucky that there's only a Frick & Nippy marathon..... won't be long before all that'll be on will be repeats of Froes & Nuggets. Fire don't do much when it's 30° below. I don't think most people know what winter is like up there in the North Country. I was living in Potsdam when they set the record in Massena at -56°.

I loved this post - very cleverly done and great pics to go with. I have to say that this too is my favorite time of year to be out and in the woods.
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome post! “its like me, a tool, but very well balanced." I'm gonna have to use that sometime lol

Yes winter here can be somewhat challenging. I usually don't try to explain it, most folks think you're exaggerating.

Just keeping the tarp dug out can be a workout,

But it can be pretty too,

We have a good time,

Usually around one of these,

The outdoor grill use slows down,

The dog has fun,

All in all not a bad place to live.

As Granitestateofmind will attest, this place makes Valley Forge look like Miami.

The wife is a good sport and tougher than most, and good looking to boot!

And hey, no bugs!!
