Well, what I've gleaned from on here, JD, Hoodlums and other websites; in addition to different books, I figured I'd better quit talking about it and do it.
Trying out different shelters. Some will be for the day, I'd like to try out a few for "getting through the night". I'm going to hopefully have a camera for these, if just a disposable camera
. Hopefully I'll have the chutzpah to stay overnight in a good shelter, if I get really uncomfortable, I am going inside for the night.
My father has a big stand of pine trees, going to try to make a small shelter in there, also in his woods there are a few good spots. This might have been better advised in the early fall or spring, but I'll be at home, so it shouldn't matter. I don't plan on taking more with me than I could when out camping. Looking at a multitool, my Dozier Wilderness and my Vic OHT. MY Outdoorsman should be an adequate light. I hope to do this throughout November, going to try for at least one this weekend. Give me a chance to check out my Jumbo, and hopefully my Devildog will come in time this week. I am mainly more interested in making shelters from materials supplied by nature.
