At blade I picked up one of Burts Dark Sides. This knife for at least 4 reasons goes against what I like in a knife. First there are no handle slabs 2nd it is a neck knife I never liked neck knives 3rd it has a kydex sheath I don't like kydex 4th its stainless steel kinda

Well this knife has been a revelation. I wrapped some paracord around the end of the handle and Ill be damned it's pretty comfy secondly I found a neck knife with a proper kydex sheath pretty damned handy. The kinda stainless knife is one of Burts fantastic laminates and you get the best of both worlds great edge holding easy resharpening and good rust resistance.

everyone knows I like big and small knives and I decided that this little sucker was gonna be my small knife user for the up comeing fall

Fall is my favorite time of the year the fishing is at it best and the hunting is getting started.

Due to work and family I did not get out much and only made a couple trips all in the last month . In every pic from here out Burts little knife was around my neck mostly under my shirt so it would not flap around.

I used it in salt water Striper fishing I used it on boats in both fresh and salt and found it to be very handy. I waded with it for steelhead and have learned to love a neck knife especialy with waders on.

I skinned deer and found it to be very comfortable in hand even with out a handle.

The blade shape was excellent for all tasks from triming light tippet to cutting braid to capeing and skinning

The blade showed no rust with minimal care the stainless part resisting rust and the etched carbon part doing well also.

It held an edge very well and the only time I touched it up was after skinning a whole deer and then it was still sharp and only nedded a quick pass on a jewel stick to get it back to real sharp.

After all this use here is the great part it looks the same as the day I got it the carbon edge has changed color but thats cool and even the kydex has not mared it it's like it is self healing

All in all I should have bought 3 of these and I love it thanks Burt

In every one of these pics the knife was around my neck either in the open or under a shirt

Eli I never thought I would like one STeven encouraged me . Sometimes the pain in the ass is right :D

I got me the little version of that knife and I use it all the time. Definitely one of top three favourites in my little collection.
Great pics Joe. Looks like Ma Nature is treatin ya well:thumbup:

Cool pics. I never did anything like that but I liked mine alot when I still had it. Great quality and a real good feeling blade. Cut very well for the light use I put it too.

Cool pics Joe. Those little dark side knives have more going for them than good looks and a very affordable price - they cut really well.

Joe brings home the "bacon." (That's some un-orthodox rod holder.)

Neat pics.

...you mean that's not how you're supposed to hold 'em?

Great write-up Joe... funny how you manage to get attached to things you'd normally be totally opposed to, isn't it? When Burt initially made those, I could feel a lot of guys cringing - I'm glad they got more acceptance, as I think it's a great idea. Looks nifty, too!

BTW, my striper only looks smaller than Joe's because he's only what... five foot two, Joe?:D

Hey Joe, what did you get the deer with? bow or gun?

Chuck it is archery season right now we where using a combination of bows and crossbows . I was carrying my crossbow that day
