In the midst of all the buying, selling, and trading, I sometimes end up in a situation where I'm waiting on a knife to come in that I plan on carrying. And to get that knife, I had to trade/sell my primary user, or one I planned on using. What I'm left with are a bunch of safe queens I don't want to risk scratching up. So, I have a fallback knife. This is a knife I've had for a very long time. It's not worth enough to sell, but its still a good knife, so I keep it around for when I have nothing else to carry. The knife no longer holds my interest aesthetically. My tastes have changed, and its no longer a style I would go out of my way to purchase or trade for. But MAN, is it a great performer. For me, this knife is my S30V Blur. These go for around $75-$85 new now, so it isnt worth enough for me to sell it. She gets no real love. Just a user in one of the junk drawers. Shes in my pocket today. I took a moment to really look at this knife, and I appreciated it for the first time in years. It truly is a dependable, workhorse of a knife. Feels perfect in hand. I hardly even notice its there while im using it. Nothing flashy. S30v on an open body aluminum frame. Recurve blade, which isnt something I really even like. Handles are black with that track material in the inserts. To be honest, it isnt appealing to me at all. It just performs SO well, and has stood up to everything without any need for maintenance Does anyone else have a "fallback" knife they feel similarly about? Something you wont trade just because it basically NEEDS to be there when you need it? Would love to hear about it! They're like water. On a hot day, you might really want a soda, or a beer. But if you can't get one, you'll just take a drink from the hose. Its what you really needed anyway.
