What is the point of the black Teflon coating on the Falkniven A1 Survival Knife's sVG-10 stainless blade?

Is it simply stealth?

Why would stainless need to be protected from a "corrosion agent?"

Your wisdom would be most appreciated.

Thanks fellas.

There are moments when you wish to avoid reflects from your blade and then the black ceracoat 8H A1 is the option for you. This extremely tough surface will also protect the blade from any corrosion agent.

Well, as has been pointed out on the forum, there is no such thing as a truly stainless steel (it's stain resistant). You just need to get the right conditions and you can get about anything to corrode (though H1 seems really good in this regard).

But the coating is for reducing reflection as stated, I suspect. And aesthetics, as some people just like black blades for one reason or another (I do on folders, not in fixed blades unless needed).

Fallkniven calls this coating "ceracoat" but I have heard it described as "Teflon" also. Do you know anything about how this coating wears?

Thank you.
