Both these knives are of a similar design, one being an inch longer and slightly thicker. Thoughts on these 2 knives, pros and cons (if any) on these knives...

I only own the SRK its a very reliable knife which can with stand abuse, the only thing I find wrong with the design is the rubber handle surrounding the stick tang. comes loose around the guard area. which is solved by filling that area with expoxy. I really like the srk I own two.

I have an SRK and like it. It's definitely a reasonably-priced workhorse. My main complaint is that the edge is very very thick, so it doesn't cut well. I tend to demand cutting performance more than edge-strength, so I had to spend a long time grinding down the edge with a file so I could get acceptable performance.

I would switch to the Fallkniven in a heartbeat, if I needed another fixed blade in this range. By all reports, it too is very tough, but more importantly, it comes right from the box with a high-performance edge geometry. I think this model might also have part of the tang sticking out the back of the handle, which is nice to use a hammer.

Also, my SRK goes dull just sitting in the closet, micro-oxidizing. VG-10 should not do that. I like my knife to be as sharp when I pull it out, as it was when I put it away.

I own both. They are both well made and sturdy. They both have cordura sheaths that suck. Overall I feel that the Fallkniven is the better knife

Kydex sheaths are coming for the Fallkniven. They should be at US dealers soon.

This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it.

I was leaning towards the S1 but after the 7in test I'll end up getting something in Carbon V, probably the SRK but maybe even the Master Hunter. For quite a bit less one gets a tougher steel that offers better edge holding. As far as edges dulling without use my Carbon V, Mora, Anza, and Old Timers knives stay shaving sharp as I've demo'd that ability many times with the knives, even after they've sat for quite awhile, but stangely enough my stainless Puma and Gerber knives do dull noticeably without use.

These two knives are too different to compare, I think. The SRK is a carbon steel bladed knife which means it will outperform a stainless blade but rust and corrode easily once you scratch the finish. The Fallkniven are made from VG-10 which is a "fairly" stainless steel and will provide inferior edge holding buy superior rust and corrosion resistance with or without a coating. Personally, I think the Fallkniven are among the best production knives available but, if you want the performance of carbon steel, they aren't for you. Take care.

All I can say is Falkniven wins hands down if you're willing to spend the extra money.

I asked this question as in what knife would you rather have and why. Yeas, they both have high points.

VG-10 any good at all at holding an edge?

I used a spydie moran camping this summer and the vg10 held an edge very well. It does not hold an edge as well as the carbon V but seems to outperform (subjectively) my ATS34 blades. I believe that Sal Glesser in the Spyderco forum quoted some scientific data they had that indicated that the VG10 held an edge a little longer than the ATS34 blades they tested.

Hi Guys...

I also like the Fallkniven blade better. Although the SRK is a good quality knife..

What do you guys think about the new Fallkniven kydex sheaths ?

I think they could be a lot more user friendly. They are Very well built by the looks of them,, but I think a huge improvement would be to make the webbing removable...
Whatcha think ?

I'm one of the few who doesn not "worship kydex" I actually like the sheaths Cold steel uses for it's 2nds better than the one it uses for it's 1sts is why I like 2nds better. Occasionally I will stick it down my pants in the back, and kydex is really not all that comfortable in this instance is why
