A1 is a beautiful knife for sure.
Just having AK47 fixed blade in CPM-3V, and now Recon Tanto too - it is clear as day I don't need another fixed blade of similar size
I almost forgot SP-53 too...
But yeah, it is a good knife, altough very pricey in my opinion, a lot more than what I paid for my AK47 knife, and that knife is in 3V.
But it is nice to know what you like. A lot of people find lamination special, both by aesthetics and by their purpose.
A little update I said I'd use the knife hard but not abuse.
Found some old kiln dried hardwoods and dried pine 3"x3" to split for the wood burner. Batoned through all of the wood no deformation or chips what so ever.
Very pleased with the A1 it punches above its size and is very tough as I'd hoped.
Edge retention is also better than I'd expected for Vg10. I guess the Japanese made blade will have an excellent heat treat.
Would be interesting to know the make up of the sand where you know who's Knife chipped - corundum is common in sand and will cause chipping of any steel for example?
