Looks like the forum has spoken. Personally, I'm more of a folder guy myself, so I voted for the PM2. However, with your intended use the fixed blade would probably serve you better.

Wow! What are you guys doing with the PM2 in order to break the tip 4 times! IMO you would have to be doing something that it wasn't intended. The PM2 is my go to outdoor folder but I don't abuse it and I always have a fixed blade as well.
Honestly nothing I wouldnt do with any of my other spydercos. Not saying the entire tip snapped off but 8th of an inch. Just enough for me to re grind the tip on a belt. My tip broke when I was cutting through a soft vine while camping. Torque the tip of that blade to either side and it goes away. My buddys all have (I think they still have them?) the s30v versions. I would assume the better tougher steels may be better and less prone to tip damage but, stopped caring. I also felt the handle to blade ratio was to far off. For how large the grip is plus that choil your getting a much smaller knife for how big it is in pocket. Most people love that knife and I obviously don't fall into that bucket anymore but, I did try to give it a fair shot and owned the knife for a few years and carried it a decent amount. The opening action on it was great and I do love the compression lock.
