I know Outdoors 55 does a lot of sharpening videos, and tends to have Spidies that he is sharpening, would it maybe be from him? I know most of his stuff is V-edge sharpening and is all about locking the wrist, so maybe not him..

I'll get some photos but not sure I know how to do video just yet. DBK on youtube has a video showing the rocking motion but it's subtle and on bench stones.

I'll get some pics up Sunday.

For what it's worth, I found it much easier to learn freehand convex sharpening by using wet/dry sandpaper over a very firm or hard backing like hardwood, stone, glass, etc. Use a simple stropping motion (edge trailing only) with the blade angle held conservatively low, so the apex of the edge isn't pressing into the paper. Allow the sandpaper to follow the contour of the existing convex behind the edge, finishing each pass by just skimming the 'cheeks' of the apex. It doesn't take long to get a feel for it this way. When you get comfortable with that, then it becomes somewhat easier to learn that back & forth scrubbing technique described earlier, on stones / hones. That's the path I followed and I found it an easier transition in learning the technique. I originally tried the sandpaper over a DIY strop block I made, first trying it over the leather side (see below), and then later flipping the paper to the back hardwood side and using it that way. Used as such, it would emulate doing the same over a stone as has been described earlier.

You can also practice doing that back & forth scrubbing motion on a firm or hard non-abrasive surface like hardwood or glass, to get the feel for keeping the cheeks of the apex just skimming the surface. It's easier to get the feel for it without damaging your blade this way. Then, transition to a very fine abrasive surface doing the same thing. A finer abrasive will produce positive results in refining your edge, all while still not doing too much damage if your technique still needs adjustment.
