Where do you guys get them and for a all purpose knife would you suggest the F1, A1 or Forest knife and what is the main difference in these three besides Blade length? I am sure they are all fine knives but I am not real familiar with them.

I have only had experience with an F1. It is a great all purpose knife whether you want to do fine work or baton 2" branches. It is quite tough, even though it may look a little small. Although, I do still companion my F1 with a small hatchet when camping. Sorry I can't help you on the comparison.

I got mine brand new off ebay for a fairly good price, better than I saw on any other site. The trick is just to be patient and don't bid unless its a good value. Good luck.

Here's a pic of the F1-S1-A1 for comparison:

The S1 & A1 have a very similar blade shape.The A1 being the thickest,heaviest.
If I were to pick only one of these it would be the F1 due to it's size & the fact that it's just so darned handy to carry & use.

Thanks, Thats the infoI have been looking for. I think with the knive I already have, the F-1 might fill the gap:). I just bought the Helle Lapland and I think that ended my quest for a perfect BIG knife for my needs. The F-1 will fit between the Bark River mimi skinner and the monster Lapland.:D

New graham sells falkniven and are great to deal with.
Plus you get free band aids!

You need more than one of these.

F-1 is great an handy for general carry but the larger models are good when longer bakcwood usage.

I don't know what your definition of all-purpose is, but looking at the gap that you are trying to fill, the F1 sounds about perfect. I was going to suggest looking at the H1 if you want more hunting and less camping ability. You can also get that in 3G, which I'm having great success with in my new TK3.

But if you are looking at more woodcraft than hunting, the F1 might be more robust without being overbuilt. Plus VG 10 is a great steel also.

It's nice to have choices, isn't it? :D
