Fallkniven or Marble's - Which would you choose

I decided to order one of the Marbles Trailmakers myself from DLT Trading. I place the order Monday night and got the knife a couple of hours ago (2:00 PM Thursday).

I was suprised when I looked at the blade and saw engraved on it, "52-100", and under that, "Custom 2002". So it looks like Marbles has made at least one Trailmaker of 52-100 steel.

Of course I am hoping it is the only one they made from 52-100, and I can auction it off at Christies in a couple of years for a million or so dollars.:D

Seriously, how should 52-100 do for a big knife?

Hey Guys....

Marbles are Awesome knives, the only problem with them I can see is the warrenty policy... Its a toss of the coin if they'll cover it or not.

Too me this is a company headed for disaster and not long for this planet...

That being said,, I own 7 Fallknivens, and never worried once about damage. Quality was Absolutely Top shelf.

I should also say that I've never owned a Marbles, my first one is one its way, however I've worked on many of them.

I thought that myself throughout the summer. I tried without success for four months to order Marbles knives through internet dealer, before discovering DLT Trading. There were plenty of dealers who would take my order and money, but none that would send the knives.

I don't know who Marbles was shipping knives to during the summer. Maybe it was just their their retail dealers who were getting knives.

Finally this month I tried DLT Trading. I have ordered three Marbles knives from them, and all arrived within three or four days. Unlike alot of other dealers, they are also selling the Marbles knives at discount prices - even the older ones with 52-100 steel.

I own half a dozen Marble's including the Trailmaker. I can say one thing about them that is pure truth and nothing but.
They are just plain ol' users.
If you are looking for the tight fit and finishes you'd be better off look elsewhere. These knives are fit and finish challanged, but are still great users and thrashers, slicers and choppers.
They are all knife handled, brass guarded razors.

My best example of a good fit and finished knife from Marble's is the red jigged bone caper. Great looking knife but the sheath is only so-so.

Fallkniven's have decent enough fit and finish(especially that Thor's Hammer model, WOW!) and are also sharp as a Mother-in-law's tongue, but tend to be much thicker at the edge and tip.

All the best,
Mike U.

I am still wondering about this 52-100 Trailmaker I got. Is 52-100 steel appropriate for a large Bowie?
