I just bought this A1 used from another forum.

I was wondering if all A1 blades are laminated? Or just the newer ones. Will this sheath allow me to wear the knife horizontal on my belt? I havent received it yet, but if I cant wear it horizontal I may order another sheath.

No, all A1's are not laminated. Origionally all that line (A1, F1, S1, etc.) were solid VG-10.

And before that, the original F-1's were made of ATS34 in Germany.

judging by the sheath in the pic, could anyone guess on how old it is? Or is that sheath still in use?

Looks like a newer version. The sheath was my clue. Still hard to tell. Either way it is a great knife

No,, you won't be able to wear it horizontal..
The sheath isn't set up for that at all...
