So my buddy has a fallkniven S1 i think its called, he said he paid about 100 bucks for it, i really like it. I couldnt see where it was made though, the blade wasnt stamped or anything, does anybody know? I couldnt find out where on there website, i will most likely get one. Wheres the cheapest place to buy? Opinions on the blade?

chuck, I think they get the blade from Japan and they finish the rest in Sweden.

Look on the sales forums for one, can't recommend a website..

Fallkniven knives are made in Japan with Japanese steels. www.newgraham.com is a good place to buy. They also send a few bandaids with each knife to patch up the cuts.

Fallkniven is indeed a Swedish company but like so many others nowdays they outsource some of their production knives to Japan. The knives are still excellent though. The high end knives are still made in Sweden IIRC. Those would be the knives named after the gods in norse mythology: Thor, Odin, Idun and so on.

No, they're not. All of the Fällknivens use Japanese steels and for that reason are also made in Japan, this includes the Northern Lights line. Fällkniven itself is a Swedish company, and the designs are Swedish.

In that case I stand corrected. However I'm sure I've seen the Northen Lights line listed as "Made in Sweden" on some sites. This can of course be an error on their part. Thanks for the info!

Edit: Here are links to Knife Supply, where they list Japan for the standard knives and Sweden for the Northen Lights line.

An error on their part? Can someone more familliar with the company clarify?

Yes, it is an error on those sites as far as I know (note how they aren't the official Fällkniven site). If one is interested in such things, the surest way to confirm it would be to contact Peter Hjortberger of Fällkniven directly - you can find the contact info at http://www.fallkniven.com/info/info_en.html .

Not that it matters anything whether those things are manufactured in Japan or Sweden. Japan makes excellent cutlery, but that shouldn't be news to anyone.

Again, thank you for the info!

Japanese cutlery is indeed excellent and it doesn't make any difference to me personally. I just don't like misinformation when I order online. Country of origin when it comes to production knives can at times be important, Japan however has never been an issue for me with other brands. Good to know though.

Here is a listing of different versions of the F1 and other Fallkniven knives.

If you find an unused Fallkniven F1, S1, A1, H1 marked only VG10 you should keep it that way and sell it to a collector :) Yes were many made but also many used.

If you're looking for an S1 that stands out from the crowd you can look at JRE Industries' Custom Fallkniven Page for some truly amazing knives.

I have a couple of their custom F1s and couldn't be happier.

There's a Birdseye Maple S1 there right now that's calling out to me but I'm really an F1 guy. :)

Wow guys thanks for turning us on these website's:thumbup: Great leather sheaths there. Also I have been eying an Falkniven F1 but couldn't stand the looks. But those custom knives are beautiful:D Makes me wonder about those Mora's:confused: Is there someplace (bark river maybe) that will do a Mora 2000 custom? I can't stand the looks of the green handle and cheap sheath. But I like the blade. Custom Mora's would be sweet:D

You can buy Mora 2000 blades from many Swedish hobby and handycraft stores and handle them yourself. Although it might be cheaper just to strip one you already have.
