I have wanted a Fallkniven F-1 for a long time now. I am finally ready to buy and the only sheath available is the zytel.

Do they suck, alright, good or poor?

Thanks

The zytel sheaths are functional, hold the knife well. But they are ugly and definitely not as nice as the leather. If you don't like it though, all the sheathmakers around already have an F1 pattern and could whip up a nice one for ya.

I have the leather "dangler" sheath with my F1. I like it. If your are looking for options, there are many.

BF sheath makers:
One Scene Tactical. (Kydex)
Fiddleback (Kydex also IIRC)

Another great one if you want leather "bushcrafter style":
JRE Industries

Personally I thing the leather dangler sheath is rugged, holds the knife very well, and hangs low on the belt so it's no in the way.

Never used the zytel sheath.

Here's a pic of one I really like (not sure who made it though, maybe Fiddleback?)

I have the zytel and find it very functional. I do, however, like leather a lot so I'm cursing tknife for showing off that great looking sheath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't mind my asking, where are you getting your F1 from? A quick glance at a couple of my favourite web dealers show F1's with leather sheath. I have the old dangler and had it modified into a simple drop loop. Tucks into my back pocket and is still hooked to my belt so it draws easy. Wore it in downtown Victoria and nobody even noticed.

finder, I usually buy my knives from knifeworks.com. They are out of the leather sheath.

I am going to buy the zytel and get a kydex from normark.

the zytel is alright, nothing like a custom jobber, but it works. Knifeworks (Roger is cool), New Graham knives, Grand Prairie are all good places (some even match/beat).

Finder, thanks I will try the cutlery shoppe.

Knives ship free, new graham are out of the style I want. GP doesn't carry Fallkniven.

I bought an F1 last year with zytel. I had expected to get an after market sheath for it, but it ends up I liked the zytel. It is very funtional...simply works well. Go for it...great knife also.

I thought the sheath was fine for the F1...the F1 is a great knife, but I would say that if you are like me, a big guy...the handle on the F1 is small..I never felt like I had a good grip on it. Some people say that they are the best knives out there...I prefer the H1..the handle is much fatter, and the blade it just a bit stouter than the F1..and the long curved blade of the H1 is easier to sharpen in my book. But to say again, the sheaths are cool, but there are alot of aftermarket sheaths that you could buy. Gene

Just ordered The F-1 with a leather sheath from the cutlery shoppe.

Thanks to everyone for links and comments

There seems to be a problem with the F-1 leather sheaths. The cutlery shoppe was out of them as well. There is a huge backorder from Fallkniven. That sucks.

I had to switch to the zytel. I ordered from knife works my usual place.

I will get a normark one soon.

Eric's sheaths are great as most well know. Again, if you're looking for leather, JRE Industries sheaths are fantastic.

You're gonna love your new Fallkniven. Great knives.
