I, too, heard that Fallkniven was sold, but I don't know who it went to. I'm curious to find out who it may be...

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Say it aint so Joe! :(

Thank the (Norse) Gods I got my Thor on order before some compay screws it up with 'Surgical Stainless'.

Give the company a chance.
when when they have the same kit would they not make the same high quality knives. It may encorage others to improve as well

I don't buy Chinese, period! I don't care what quality they can produce or duplicate.

They are not friends of the US as a whole, just gungy US businesses.

I emailed Peter last night asking if the company had been sold to a Chinese company. Here is his answer.

No,

that's not true.

The discussions we have had are with german, swedish and US companies.

For the moment, we have no serious inquiries.

Yet, we met a swedish company last week that was interested in taking over
our business and let's see if they're able to put up the "right" money.

Best regards

We all buy Chinese whether we like it, admit, or know it. Most likely the computer keyboard you type at everyday has Chinese made components all through it as do the computers we use. They make and manufacture so much at this time that it is vitually impossible for anyone to say they don't buy Chinese.

If you buy a refil insulated mug for your soft drinks. Thats Chinese. If you buy a mouse pad for your computer. Better check the back of the package. Made in China. Look at the bottom of your blow dryer or on the tag on the cord. OhOH: China.

You can't escape it. Their products are everywhere even in places we don't know about.

This is true. However, the consumer can and should make every effort to research the products. The consumer can many times find products other than those made in China. IE Redwing boots made in US, or SAS shoes made in Texas. Will cost more, sure.

No offense, but that's awfully naive.

I doubt any US knives would be good if they didn't have to get as good as the one from europe before them

I just don't understand this whole thing of anti chineese. The chineese people I know are nice people, I may have concerns about political issues but I do with the USA as well

I don't understand it totally myself and I live in the US. It isn't their fault so many jobs have been outsourced. They took the work when it was offered just like we would if the situation were reversed. We can look right here at home to our own gov. and the corporate industrial complex for the blame on the jobs leaving the US. If blame lies anywhere it is in these two places.

On the plus side there is good relations with China because of the massive amount of trade going on between us. This is why I laugh when I hear someone say that China is going to Nuke the US and take over. Ask yourself this. If you had a 'cash cow' like the US buying all the crap you made would you want to destroy it? No way. You'd be killing yourself too. Believe me they know it. They need our consumers for their own lively hood and apparently the general consensus in corporate managment is that we need them to make the stuff we buy because we are too cheap to pay the premium for our own labor forces to have it made here. The fact is: the buying public in the USA is more concerned with price than where the product was made. Wal-Mart is proof of this everyday of the week 52 weeks a year.

A lot of my anti-chinese negativity is based on the fact that I love things made with skill and not something that a guy straight out of tech college has programed into a CNC machine and pressed the big green button.

I also don't subscribe to the 'Its good for us that the Chinese take our worthless paper dollars in exchange for manufactured goods (read:junk)' that you either throw away because it breaks or put it in storage because it just doesn't do what you wanted.

It might be good on paper but some guy used to making $25 an hours gets laid off so the company that exported his job can make another few hundered % profit (that benefits a few people) is going to hurt a lot of people he used to buy things from and can no longer afford to. It will snowball from there. Of course the jerks at the likes of Morgan Stanley don't care one iota about you as long as they get their six figure bonus. Keep buying American (although in this case its Swedish stuff thats made in Japan) Keep the spirit of inventiveness alive and pay that few dollars more for something that you can give to your grandkids.

* Note I'm not anti Chinese, just copied junk that just so happens to come from there 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time

zin,

things are made overseas because it's cheaper, but most of that is because the quality of living is so poor that the job is actually an improvement for the people, because it puts food on the table, something they can't guarantee. That being said, if your nationalist sensibilities are offended and you are blaming them for their low standard of living...

i'm chinese so I would like to extend to you a hearty f uck you.

I'm not anti-Chinese, I'm anti-communist and against an economy largely based on stealing intellectual property.

But I'm not one of those "don't buy Chinese stuff" guys, because I know that it's virtually impossible - and some things from China are actually high quality.

That is horrible thing to say. Yeah there is Communist China, but there is also Hong Kong, and some other areas that don't play with the communists. It's your choice though. I don't think that the knives made by CRKT are made in communist China. I don't support the Red, but the rest are great in my book. If a company in China bought Fallkniven, I am sure they have the ability to produce a good quality product. If it goes to crap, then there is nothing we can do about it. Give it chance though.

I agree. I have some Chinese made knives that are damn nice. I also have some crap ones. In truth I have some crap US made ones also along with some crap from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan.

In many cases the Taiwan made knives, and now even many of the Chinese made ones are being made with newer top of the line equipment than comparable US and Japanese companies use to make their knives and are every bit the equal to the latter two in quality. The new Spyderco knife being made in China is just one example. Take one look at the CRKT knives and you see immediately that they are top of the line in quality of fit and finish.

I have seen this 'I don't believe in imports unless they are mine' attitude before and it is hypocritical as all get out. It used to be that if it was made in Japan everyone felt like they do now about made in China. But now Japanese is ok partly due to companies like A.G.Russell showing the world that they make quality knives. Now look at us. Japan is ok, Taiwan? Well, we can accept those too but China oh no!. Can't have that I put my foot down there. Oh please. Get real.

You miss the point! This has nothing to do with people of China....it has to do with government and business.

You then revert to poo poo ka ka statements.

I had formed a good opinion about you from your past posts, but I see I must be mistaken.

In closing, your extended greetings are passed back to you ten fold.

To the ignore file for you.
