As some of you may know from this thread,

I recently ordered both a Fallkniven Thor and Fehrman knives Extreme Judgement. Well the Fallkniven just came. For those not familiar with this knife,
Total length: 385 mm (15.15")
Blade length: 254 mm (10")
Blade width: 42 mm (1.65")
Blade thickness: 7 mm (0.28")
Weight (knife): 520 g (1.15 lbs)
Steel: Lam.VG10
Blade hardness: 59 HRC
Butt cap: Alumina
Guard: Stainless, specially anchored
Handle in brown leather: 132 mm (5.2")
Sheath: Brown leather
First impressions, I absolutely love this knife! It's just a beautiful classic looking knife. it's large but it doesn't feel clumsy. The balance point is about an inch above the guard so its slightly blade heavy. Not a bad thing since this is a wilderness chopper/work/survival type knife. It's got a convex grind and edge. You can't see an different grinding near the edge. It's just one perfect grind that takes it from the spine all the way to the edge. Speaking of the edge, It's hair popping sharp! Probably the sharpest large fixed blade I've ever bought. Fit and finish is perfect, I can't find anything wrong in that department. The handle is stacked leather and is quite long. I have big hands and when I grip right under the guard my pinky sits right on the loser red washer. The handle is pretty small in diameter but this doesn't really bother me. It feels secure but it could be better. I put a lanyard on. When using it hard I'll definitely wrap the lanyard around the outside of my hand and attach it below the guard in addition to the hole in the bottom. Using a lanyard in that manner really adds to the grip with this knife. I haven't used it yet but I'm gonna try and go backpacking the next weekend night that we have some decent weather.
There's only one real fault that I can give the knife and it's not a big one. It's the sheath. It's a nice looking sheath, made of leather with a nice Viking helmet and sword logo pressed into the front. The problem is that there is no quick release option, and the belt loop is overly large. The sheath fits the classic look and is very well made. A quick release is just a really nice feature that you should get for a $300+ fixed blade. This could be solved while still keeping a classic style by using a separate belt loop and sheath with a pin, like on the cold steel natchez bowie. As far as the belt loop goes it's about five inches long above the actual sheath and has a retaining snap. I would like to see it be only as large as necessary to accommodate a large belt, if this was the case it would still be plenty big for the retaining strap. What happens is when you go to draw the knife the sheath raises up off your leg. Not a big deal but a little bit of an annoyance.
All in all I really like the knife and am happy with the purchase. Although I may get a custom sheath. I can't wait to see how it does on a backpacking trip. I intend to split wood, chop, whittle, and maybe even cut some food. I may be able to get out for a night this weekend. If so I will add some more about how it does.
