Hello everyone! I just ordered a ivory micarta fallkniven tk1 fixed blade. I really had a hard time going with micarta over the wood. I just hear bad things about food handles cracking and shrinking. How do you folks feel. Do any of you own a TK1?

I have a wood handled knife that is locally made by an Amishman; bought at the local market. It's seen about 20 years of abuse in the kitchen and the wood is still in good shape. Walnut I believe. Fallkniven does not make knives, production is contracted out to Japanese companies. Most are made by Moki IIRC, and they have been doing wood handled knives for years. I'd trust Moki.

I found that thick, full width, full length tang put the balance too far back . SO ,skeletenized the tang , finished with stabilized black ash burl -- perfection !!

All the Fallkniven fixed blades are made by Hattori. All their folders are made by Moki.
Hattori has used various woods, micarta, stacked leather, corian, and other handle materals
for decades with no problems.
