Fallkniven U2 youtube review..I agree!

Yes, folding knife, but I am much, much more into their fixed blades than their folders except for the PXL (and maybe the FH9). Their quality is usually OK, but I can get better folders for less. U2 is indeed a damn sharp little sister, but too light in my opinion. It was one of my first Fällknivens but I hardly ever use it. I love Fällknivens, but not their folders.

You complain that U2 is too light? Interesting, I seldom hear that as a reason of complaint... Why is it that the lightness gives you problems, can you elaborate?

I had one and had to sell it. The knife itself was nice but the part of the blade I've highlighted in this photo was sharp and I was always scraping my hand on it when I went to retrieve it out of my pocket. I'm not even sure why it sticks out like that but it is sharp. Anyone else have that problem?

That is something I have noticed on some Fallkniven folders, the U2, TK3 and FH9, speaking to ones that I own.

For some reason I find it most noticable on the TK3's, but noticable, not annoying enough to dismiss all the other great features of the knives.

As mentioned by one poster, a quick pass accross those corners with a stone and they would "round" off if you want.

I contacted Fallkniven about this design "flaw" and suggested they nick off the sharp edges, but their reply was essentially that it is a time tested design and they don't receive much negative feedback on it. I guess if you are selling thousands of knives a year and only receive a few comments it is reasonable to assume most people don't consider it an issue.

I have U2's in the glove boxes of my vehicles just to have a handy little knife available in case I don't have my EDC with me. They don't get used often, but boy are they handy from time to time.

I have also gifted several, and everyone who has received one is pleased with the quality.

I agree that quality for $$ these are great little knives.

Here is the youtube video of whittling a hair with the U2

I have one and it is the pocket knife of choice when I go to work. The steel is not brittle. I once tried to cut through what I thought was a plastic cord holding a label on new pants, but I wasn't wearing glasses. It was a staple, and I managed to produce a microscopic nick at the end of the blade. It was only visible with an 8X loupe on one side of the blade edge, and not on the other at all. Seeing the nick required magnification. It sharpened out easily.

The steel is not that easy to sharpen, but it does take a decent edge. For my uses, I am not sure that I can tell the difference between the SPGS steel and 154CM or VG10, but the knife is easy to carry and use. I don't want a thumb stud on a knife at work, and I normally remove any pocket clip if I can. I never want people to see that I am carrying a knife, unless I am fishing or camping.

The U2 is so small, light and convenient to use that you forget it is in your pocket. ... Great edc.

I have used a Fallkniven U2 that was reground to a .005" thick edge by Tom Krein and it is an excellent knife. Sheeple freindly, great cutter with very nice steel. I actually prefer my Caly Jr. ZDP reground to the same thickness by Tom Krein due to the ergos. The steels are both great performers at very acute angles and easily achieve hair whittling sharpness. The U2 is definately an excellent knife and great cutter, especially at $60.

This is not the most professional review I have seen but he speaks my mind.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMojtswKe3I

For 6:30 minutes not too much information...

"...Longest edge retention..."
"...Sharpest knife..."
"...So sharp.. really really amaizing...scary sharp...pretty pretty sharp...I love it...it is awsome...highly highly impressed..."

...again and again and again? Common it may be done so much better. I would not call it professional review.

Also about edge retention - on my tests SGPS show results way below average, on the bottom of the list among 26 knive tested - 23 place.

Thanks, Vassili.

P.S. Hair under tension easy to shave, but really sharp knife should sharp free hanging hair.
Also any knife can be sharpen o whittle hair - this does not really speak for steel quality.

Too small. Light is not the right word although it is a lightweight knife.
