FALLKNIVEN WM1 or Buck Mayo Kaala for a neck knife?

I have the chance to pick up either one of these for about the same price next week (I can't get both, yet).

A few notes: I love neck knives, and have a Becker Necker with a really crapy sheath (need to have Eric make me a new one...) and a buck hartsook which resides in my hat when I wear it. Because of the sheath problems I don't want to carry the necker right now so I am thinking about one of the above.

I have an F1 that I love, and it has become my main user. This makes me lean towards the WM1 EXCEPT for the fact that the Buck is a bit longer in the blade. I have held the Buck in my hand and like the feel if I smooth the handle out a bit, and the sheath seems tight and solid. Never held a WM1 yet.

Sooo opinions? I'm going to pull the trigger on this soon.

Thanks

Mike

If you have to modify the Buck in order for it to feel good in your hand, then go with the WM1. Heck, go with the WM1 anyways. Fallkniven make great knives, no matter what the name designation.

I have most of the Fallknivens, except the fancier ones, and I really like them all.
The WM1 is a really great knife for taking care of small animals. I know he called it a WoMan-knife but it is not a girlie knife, it is still black, not pink.
It would be fun to have a yellow one though.
Anyway, there is a rumour, not confirmed though, that the WM1 is popular with swedish specops units (Yes I know we have not been in war since Napoleon) as a last chance knife. It is carried inside the shirt if they lose everything else. They normally use the F1, S1 or the M95 Sissipuuko. You might not use it for batoning though, but for EDC or survival it is great. If you attach a firesteel on the sheath as well you are covered if something happens. I have one in my gadget box. Even if you have a bigger knife the WM1 is good to have because you can use it for food prep and such.
If you want to go really basic, get the WM1 blade and just tape it with hockey stick tape and make your own sheath or get a kydex from Normark.

Why choose, get both :)

I agree the WM-1 is the best of the two.

Expand your choices some though if you're open to new things. Check out the Spyderco M.U.L.E. team. It looks to be a decent knife with good steel. Also less expensive than the WM-1.

Thanks everyone for your advice (Nodh I like yours the best about getting both...someday).
Looks like I will go with the WM1, but now I might take a peek at that MULE at some point in the future.
