Don't know a single work of Swedish. In pronouncing "Fallkniven" is the "k" sounded or silent? I have one on order and would at least like to know how to pronounce the name!

Fall-knive-en.
Incorrect spelling on my part, but you get the picture.

Thanks, Misque! I realize that everything I know about Sweden is either blonde or a type of meatball!Looking forward to my Fallkniven.

The name is Fällkniven med Ä inte med A

I just couldn't resist.
You probably do not have Scandic characters in your keyboard. Writing ä as a looks still a lot better than ae combo that seems to be popular when people write Scandinavian names as Hämäläinen = Haemaelaeinen.
Had ten years compulsory swedish lessons in school

and this is the second time in this year that I use it, if listening peoples conversation in train does not count.

The k in kniven is not silent. the basic word is kniv (knife) and adding fäll does not remove k. And NOT knive-en but kniv-en, just one e. It is not so long. -en at the end of fällkniven means that kniv is in definite form. In American movies the way people pronounce swedish is quite weird. Of course dialects wary and swedish by Finnish Swede minority is pronounced a little differently than in Sweden.

At least 'cousin cinnamon' is from sweden he should be expert in his language. I hated swedish... and thus I share my long gone pains.

Your going to love that knife.

It's got to be one of the strongest under 4" blades on the market today.
That full height flat grind is near and dear to my heart. As Nemo puts it, it's quite "polyvalent". I think any hunter would absolutely love to have one if they had the oppurtunity to use it just once.
There's a whole lotta knife in that compact package.

Congratulations on your choice of the F1, AlaChoctaw, it's a great knife.

In addition to the above, as Tommmi mentioned the ä (which you can get on the American keyboard by holding the ALT key and typing 132) is a short, hard "a" like in "fal" rather than the longer a in "fall".

Hope this helps a little.

Tom

Let me try this : fal (rhymes with pal),kniv (rhymes with live),en (rhymes with hen).Sound the "k". Is that close? I am really looking forward to receiving the F1,hopefully later today. If it is half the knife I think it is, I will seek suitable sheaths to carry in either IWB or pocket slip mode. It sounds like the kind of blade that can grow to be indispensible. Thanks, all!

I agree- Fallfergknugenkniven makes great knives; how come they're not more popular?

I can't read that-let alone pronounce it! But I have received my Fallkniven F1, and it is all that any of you have said, and more. None of the photos I have seen prepared me for the thickness and overall heft of this blade. And it's razor sharp from the factory. This isn't a review, but what a great knife!Got to order a smaller sheath, and this thing will go a lot of places with me.

Congratulations!
Get Chiro75 to make you a kydex sheath for that rascal and your ready to rock!
I made a small kydex sheath for mine in horizontal carry mode. Rides real good on the belt and doesn't get in the way. Gotta love that F1.

BTW If you want a great mini-knife check out the WM. It is THE best mini-knife I've ever handled and used. Makes a fantastic neck knife to boot.

Enjoy!

As far as sheathes go, Fallkniven is supposed to be coming out with Kydex sheathes sometime in mid November or early December and you may be able to pick up one of theirs. They have pictures of them on Fallkniven's web site (www.fallkniven.com) under photos.

My suggested pronounciation would be something like

fellcneav'n

If you don't want to almost swallow the last e, yes, it rhymes with "hen". Kniv rhymes with "leave". Fäll, well, that's perhaps where you can hear from where in Sweden the speaker is, so it could almost rhyme with "pal", but I prefer something much closer to (or the same) as "fell".
