I decided to treat myselt to a new knife, I bought the Fallkniven F1, I actually ordered the RC-4, but i am not crazy about the 1095 steel..Th V10 seems to need less care, anyway now i want to buy another knife. I would like to get something like the FI. I llike a rugged knife drop pt., something with a blade 3-4 inches, but maybe for like 50 bucks. I saw a Ka-bar 1460, D2 steel but that's more of a tactical knife rather than survival, I like knives that are full tang, anyone with any suggestions?

at your price range something alomg the lines of the f1 is gonna cost you some more money

for 50 bucks maybe

Benchmade Rant is a good one. Actually a very good one.

Also the Becker Necker BK11.

Another really nice knife in the price range - not "full tang" though - is the Beretta Loveless Drop Point Hunter.

+1 on the Rant: 440C and a nice comfy handle. Also a big +1 on the Beretta Loveless Drop Point if you can find one. I don't know if they are still making them. I use one every year to field dress my deer--it's a super hollow ground cutting machine---and you wouldn't believe that AUS8 could ever perform this well.

My understanding is that it was made for Beretta by Moki of Japan. Moki must be a great company is all I can say!

Benchmade has made some knives for the NRA. I know they did a D2 full-tang skinner designed by Rick Hinderer. I bought one for about $55 from Sierra Trading Post with a sale coupon.

Is the Beretta Loveless Drop Point full tang...i saw one online for 36 bucks is that a good price. How does this knife compare with the benchmade rant.

That's a fantastic price! I don't know how far the tang extends into the handles because they are injection molded around the tang. I wonder if you were to email Beretta if they would tell you? It's probably worth a try.

Superflyafro, I just found the knife you mentioned for $36. If you're not going to buy it then I may pounce on it. How soon do you plan to make up your mind?

I don't understand. why do you want another one just like the F1?
Are you afraid to use it? (I know how that feels, I'm way to careful with my A1).
but my GI tanto has seen tons of abuse. great knife for 20 bucks. I use the cheap ones a lot more than the more expensive. go figure...
I suggest the benchmade rant too.
seems like a great knife.

Now you have me curious...I'm going to contact them and see how full the tang is on the zytel models.

I suspect that it's very close to full if for no other reason that simplifying their parts inventory between the zytel and quince models.

The Rant, doesn;t that knife come apart to clean it or something?

The original versions did, but the current production ones don't. BTW the Rant has a tang that passes all the way through the handle, but it isn't 100% full tang. The tang isn't exposed at the top and bottom of the handles.

Yeah..the rant is there "red" line...made in china...still seems like a good knife...although the beretta has a thicker blade..

My newer model Rant says "Made in USA" and it came in a red box. I think one of the reasons so many people recommend the Rant is that they can't believe you can get a USA made BM so cheap!

I really like the sheath that comes with the Rant BTW.

Hell, just get 'em both! You know you want 'em!

Gerber Gator Fixed Drop Point Plain Edge 6904 seems to be a good knife...was used in man vs. wild..lol
