Yes. Maybe my fault for having such high expectations. Lateral toughness and tip strength are great. Edge retention not so much for the intended use of the knife (A1).
Nowadays I'd prefer a 3G Fällkniven just for the sharpness and edge retention in light cutting.
No problems with the G1 though.
none of that addresses the "toughness" issue you were disappointed with... how was the toughness disappointing? I have never heard this as a problem with fallkniven ever... quite the opposite in fact. Even the famed NOSS had to hand it to the fallkniven he beat to death in his destruction tests. He beat his A1 through pretty much everything before it finally broke (long after other more expensive knives had failed I might add) and other than factory edges being "chippy" I have never heard anyone complain about fallkniven not being tough enough for a knife.
p.s. yes I have personal experience, I have owned 3 fallkniven blades over the years and still EDC an F1 at work on a regular basis... specifically because it's a nice size and it is tough
