Okay, this worked well with Becker. Let's try it over here in Ka-Bar...

If you've ever seen my signature (look down the screen now), you've seen that I promote two "Groups" I started here at BFC.
The Becker group now has over 700 members, and the Ka-Bar group, started later, has over 400.
Each of them blows any of the other BFC groups out of the water in terms of numbers.

Right now, I have a stock image as the avatar for Ka-Bar, but that's going to change because of this contest. To enter, you must...

1. Be a member of the Fans of Ka-Bar Knives (just click the link in my sig and join if you haven't already).
2. Post your single, best picture of a Ka-Bar knife. One entry per person please. Multiple entries will disqualify you.

Some observations...

Knives in use outdoors will likely have an advantage, though a terrific indoor pic might do. Be sure the knife is framed large enough so that, when it is reduced down to avatar size, it is still clear in the picture. You can look at the Becker group avatar and see what I mean. Finally, priority will be given to non-Becker Ka-Bars. We already have a Becker group. Let's see other Ka-Bar knives in these pictures.

What can you win? Well, first, your picture becomes the official avatar of the Fans of Ka-Bar group. Second, I'll send you a knife of some sort, probably a BK-14 and any other swag I can scrounge up.

My favorite picture of my favorite knife, back before I stripped it and it was all roughed up. I liked it much better that way :)

I really like this little knife (Kabar 1019) and the pic isn't too bad as well :-). Not sure how to get an avatar-worthy pic of such a small blade, but this'll have to do for now. Thanks for the chance!

Can we do more than one?

Nope. Pick your best. This ain't a grapeshot kind of thing.
Will probably recruit a person or two from Ka-Bar to help judge this one.

Man, debated with the 1245 and the Combat Kukri. Such hard decisions for one to contemplate :D

Some great entries so far. I'm going to let this one run about another week and a half, and then we'll find a winner.

My Favorite Kabars - From l to r as chronologically issued -

WW2 1219C2 Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4, an late 80s/early 90s version, the 1211, 1221 and finally the D2 1281.

The Gen 1/2 are blade marked and have 3/8" pommels, w/ 1 having a round/peened tang, 2 a square peened tang. 3 and 4 are guard marked 1/4" pinned pommels. 3 has a full pin and 4 is a 3/4 pin through the pommel. At least that is what I have gleaned over the years on IDing them.
