Jacinto Mello is a knifemaker from Pará de Minas, a small town in the State of Minas Gerais, and his work is very little known outside Brazil, what does not stops him from making top notch knives with a perfect fit and finish.
I got this hunter from him at the Brasilia Knife show early this month but have to let it go. Its brand new, with the original sheath. The scans I took definitelly don´t do this knife justice.
The blade is made of K-100 tool steel, flat ground and carefully satin finished. It is 5 1/8" long and about 1/4" thick at the ricasso and tapers smoothly towards the tip.
the handle is made of super figured selected guajuvira wood, with stainless guard and fitting. Details include nice filework on the spacers bellow the guard, domed pin and a leather thong. Overall lenght is aprox,. 9 7/8".
The sheath is of brown leather with some tooling and a concho decoration, also made by Jacinto and marked so on the back, and its quality is up the knife.
