Ok, originally I envisioned this to be a cross-over thread with W&SS but why make the party smaller? :D

Years back I heard about Renault Racoon and thought it was the ultimate go-to-the-ends-of-the-earth-all-terrain vehicle, which isn't so far from the truth considering its design features:

- a wide-domed cockpit to highlight its "exploratory" feel
- appropriately designed suspension with an all-wheel drive
- aquatic-capable
- water/rain repellent windows
- no slouch off-road (over 155kph!)

Very cool. I'd buy one, if made by a reliable manufacturer instead of Renault. :D

Here's a similarly futuristic vehicle, only this one is actually scheduled for production:

Again, this is something I'd really consider buying.

And here are two fantasies from the past that never materialized. I'm a huge Cougar fan, so here are the originals, the 1962 Ford Cougar I and the 1963 Ford Cougar II:

Thanks for sharing BobW! Yep, I do recall seeing this vehicle from a US news segment, specifically addressing the oil/energy woes plaguing us right now.

Don't be shy folks! Onward with the mental stimulation exercise! ;)

Ok I just revised the thread to include all vehicles.

Check out the Embrio. A fuel cell-powered unibike that's projected to hit the streets in 2025. Balancing technology is similar to the Segway.

Nope, wouldn't buy one of those. :(

This is totally me though, a V10 Dodge Tomahawk. Actually produced and sold in limited quantities:

:D :D :D

Here's the Dodge Tomahawk story, as I recall reading... They were originally advertised as being capable of 300mph. But Dodge engineers realized no one could hang on at that speed, so the ad print was changed to a lower number.

they still make "boss hoss" motorcycles with either chevrolet small black 350 or big block 454 cubic inch car engines, they are supposedly pretty fast as i would imagine lol.

Interesting... unfortunately I still remember that software stuffup with the Segway where it would sometimes throw the rider. Throwing at low speeds is one thing, but if you accidentally get thrown by this... ouch!

Interesting ericb445! As I understand it, the Can Am Spyder's parent company is also Bombardier, the same manufacturer of the Embrio.

Small world.
I was looking at the pic of the Emrio, I seen the BRP label. I think they make snow mobiles as well. I went to my local Harley dealer I heard they are selling the Can Am. They had one one the show room floor, very interesting they wouldn't let me take it for spin, I had to at least ask. I don't if they are worth 15k to me.

anyone remember the South Park episode with this thing? :D:D:D

That wicked first car that BobW posted is the Aptera. They're supposedly going to have two versions, a plug in electric and a gas/electric hybrid. The plugin one will supposedly get the equivalent of 200 mpg, and the hybrid is actually still an electric but the little gas motor is a generator to charge the batteries, supposedly it starts off near 800 mpg and levels off to 200, so they say it has an average of 2-300 mpg. Think about it; you could drive from LA to Seattle on 4-5 gallons of gas.

As for the trike that Ericb posted, I saw a Vespa version a couple weeks ago. I asked the guy (he was with buddies on proper bikes) what its purpose was, and he said it was the only bike he felt safe on after his AWFUL crash a couple months ago. He was driving on a highway, and a lady pulled out in front of him (ran a light) and he T-boned her going 60. He'd just gotten out of the hospital, and used the insurance money to buy the new bike. He told me the coolest part of the design was that it could still lean like a normal bike, but that he didn't have to worry about his now screwed up balance tipping him over at a stop light. It was a pretty cool looking trike, I must say. Cheaper than 15K, I think it might have been in the neighborhood of 8k. Don't remember the cc's, but I think he said top speed was 80.

Nothing futuristic or concept-limited about these. Buy one today. :D

I've always thought those Boss Hoss bikes were a cool concept. Aesthetically speaking though, I have a hard time getting over the fact that you look like you're riding around with your grandma's window fan stuck under your tank. :o

I think it's time for a new mileage standard for straight electric vehicles. We need an EPA window sticker to specify how many 'miles per pound of coal' the vehicle averages.

The aesthetics are OK by me. The weight (1100 lbs dry) is prohibitive though.

For comparison, the dry weight of a Goldwing is 'only' 792 lbs. But what's an extra 300lbs?
