Farewell to HIKV...

I live about 15 miles from ten or fifteen foot deep snow that lasts all winter. It snowed last week and stopped the east-west traffic going across the Donner Pass. Nevada is not all desert and the laws here are generally the most sensible in the entire US.

When I was growing up at Tahoe it was decided that an all weather highway between Sacramento and Reno was desperately needed. Highway 50 through Hangtown ( Placervile ) and the lake was too often closed over Echo Summit.

The government's decision making process came up with a masterstroke of sheer genius. They would build the new, always open, never-to-be-closed-down-because-of-bad-weather highway alongside the Donner Trail.

This is known as learning from history. Right?
 
Tom, thanks for the commentary, that is the type of blade I have been searching for awhile now. I will have to get one of these this summer.
