You have to build up thumb strength to close that baby!

I don't get it at all! What is that piece that seems to be engaging the tang at 45 deg. angle in the most recent pic? This is from the top of the knife I presume, so that can't be the locking bar...

A nice thick slab of steel might make a good prybar - my personal fav is the recent Terzoula (sp?) "entry tool", but in a folder you still have a weak point at the pivot that would markedly reduce its real pry strength. Even if the tip didn't break, the pivot might.

Personally, and not to disparage Farid because the knives look competently made, these knives remind me a little of those weird fantasy daggars Gil Hibben likes so much. Eye catching, but not much use as real cutting tools.

Just my opinion of course.

Matthew, as you can also see from the second picture in NCBlades posting this bar engages the top back part of the blade and replaces the stop pin used in other folders. If I'm not mistaken, this idea is copied from Bob Dozier, who made a folder with a so called double integral lock, meaning one bar engages the blade on the top and one on the bottom. In a milder form called Dozier lock, a huge liner which engages the blade over the entire back.

I don't want to open a can of worms here, but whenever I hear Farid, I get the impression that he copies other peoples ideas and overbuilds them. Not my idea of creativity or honorable craftsmanship. Therefore, no Farid for me, ever.

Farid needs a trademark.

Lessee... how about "The #2 Hard Use Knives in the World".

How do you pronounce Farid?
Is he an Englishman, ergo "FAIR-ihd"?
Or middle eastern or indian w/dot, ergo "Fah-REED"?

Hey, how did you know I was actually laughing? I was...

That is a truly hilarious picture. Me thinks that would have to ride in a belt sheath.

Now that is a serious folder! You could chop a tree down with that baby! Farid have a site? Or must one get a knife through da dealers??

Hey, Ralf, I hope you don't own any Japanese made electronic equipment! Most innovation has to do with taking someone else's idea and improving/modifying it. Look at how many people make chisel ground geometric tantos with cordwrapped handles. They all work hard on the pieces and they put their own little twist on the thing, but essentially they are all copies of whoever made the first knife like that. Will you not buy any lockback Spydercos because they copied Buck who copied someone else? I think when a maker blatantly copies someone else, there may be merit to boycotting them, but using someone else's good idea on your own stuff is hardly criminal, IMHO.
