A thread in Traditional got me thinking on the subject of farmers markets. I'm not talking about a single building, but big gigantic collections of buildings, tents and outdoor areas, spread over an acre or more, with anything you could think of available. Books, furniture, produce, meat, pastries, cutlery, guns, collectibles of every kind, hell, junk too. I've seen the best ones to be in PA, but I've only looked in MD, DE and PA. One is local, the other two are within an hour to an hour and a half. The one is only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while the other is open on Tuesdays only, sometimes Saturdays at the holidays, and finally, the third is only open on Fridays.
I'm talking about Morningstar in York PA, Roots near Lancaster PA and Green Dragon in Ephrata PA. I've found some good knife deals at Morningstar, both outside and inside at the antique mall. A friend, a knife nut buddy, found a Bark River for 50 bucks at the yardsale portion. Good food, good deals and good atmosphere. Roots is a lot of fun, I haven't been there in 5 years, gotten plenty of good deals, found a 550 Ritter Grip for 30 bucks my first visit. Green Dragon isn't the best of spots, I've only been twice I believe, but it's not bad. Too many junk knife knockoffs for me, but hey.
I've read in Knife World about giant farmers markets and tons of knife deals. Which farmers markets should I visit, especially in the mid Atlantic region. MD/PA/DE/WV/VA/NJ especially. Luckily for me, I like old slipjoints and have gotten plenty of good deals over the years.
Thanks
