Fast Draw Recommendations

Best EDC with a big slicey Blade? Boker exskelibur 1 titanium framelock version. Cannot begin to express how much I love this lightweight thin knife. This is the best edc 3.5 inch framelock imho. You barely know you are carrying it. Comes with one of the sliciest blades with the best cutting geometry I ever did see!

Something smaller? The Kizer Feist is a great under 3 inch edc.

Both are great options, and probably shouldn't back down from thinking titanium/s35vn can be affordable, it's 2018, the game's changed for the better!

So I've got a 'challenge' for all of you knife aficionados. Give me your best EDC recommendation as fast as you can type it, don't think about it, just TYPE IT!

For those who either haven't followed instructions or want some more specifics, let's say this is a 'friendlier' looking EDC for someone who has already dipped into the ZT price range. (Let's say that aesthetics matter more than blade length)

EDIT: You can put in bigger blades if you want to, I know I said friendlier, but if you feel more comfortable recommending bigger blades, go for it!

Now why might I give this challenge? Because last month, a couple came in, and I saw that one of them was carrying a leek in his wallet, so I asked him about it, and if he was interested in the carbon fiber version. He said that he didn't really know too much about knives, but he did have a ZT 0350 that he didn't like carrying because of how aggressive it looked, so I thought of helping out the man.

They looked like they wanted to leave the register, so I had to think quickly. Out of every knife that my brain knew of, I immediately said the Spyderco Delica, and then the Para 3. He asked me if those were the 3" knives, and I said yes and so they left. The guy said he'd look into it, and although I felt like I did good, it felt strange that these were my go-to recommendations. Not only because I don't own either one, but because there are so many other good options to pick from.

I know that my job doesn't allow me to have fully meaningful knife convos with people, so when I do get to talk to a knife person, it is for a very short time. (We're outside a mall, so we get big rushes of people just wanting our product and leaving :D) I'd like to think I did well, and hopefully I get more convos like these because it keeps me on my toes
Spyderco Delica or Endura in ZDP-189

After reading the rest: Still a Delica. You can always dress it up a bit.

Spartan Blades Pallas. This is my current favorite edc along with the Harsey.

Ha! I favor the FRN Chap, but the carbon fiber or raffir noble might be even more people friendly.
The only drawback of the Raffir Noble that I see is that you have to explain why it's so aesthetically cool, but then again, that comes with the territory of being a knife nut :D

You must’ve drew faster than Bob Munden and aimed even higher lol! Man that’s a high step recommendation, but that is a good looking blade

I read the don’t think post! Lol there are definitely friendlier options. Glad to hear your going to get your collection back. And you did that guy a REAL favor suggesting a delica.

I typed... then realized that particular knife was discontinued.
I typed again. Discontinued.
I typed again. This one, too.
Does it say something about me that the first three answers I chose were knives that are no longer in production?

Go for it, there isn't any harm in recommending discontinued knives

I carry my Spyderco Slysz Bowie every day. Wonderful folder...a mid-sized Sebbie with MUCH better steel.

Bradford Guardian 3 is my first thought because I love mine.

Then, seeing the "less aggressive" bit, I immediately went to a SAK (I like the Alox Farmer paired with a Classic), an opinel, Woodswalker, a Delica, Dragonfly, Persistence, or even a Ladybug. All are good knives and all are EDC-able and not aggressive. I have carried the Farmer, Opinel, Woodswalker, and Classic and liked them. My wife has carried a Delica most days for a few years, and I recently got her a Ladybug, which she likes too.

Enjoy

I took it literally...as in rapid presentation of the blade. There is a reason for this.
For over a year, I've been carrying a Bradford Guardian3 in his leather belted cross-draw sheath. In addition, in my rh front pocket is my clipped Spyderco Slysz Bowie...perhaps my favorite folder of all time. BUT...I seldom draw it. The cross-draw sheath makes my Guardian3 so instantly available that there is seldom a need for the Slysz.
I've carried a Bradford Guardian 3 now in CPM-3V, M390, and presently in Vanadis 4E SuperClean. A great tool-steel, and sticky-sharp as purchased from Brad Larkin's shop.
So, quick of mind...or quick to hand...both bring about the same answer.
